We test out some old Russian import shotshells that use an all steel shell and a berdan primer. How will they function after decades? We find out!

This video shows how I created the Double Donut slugs. Pretty simple using only a drill press, a hole saw, files, and deburring tools. The most critical dimension, the outside diameter was done using a 7/8" hole saw. Each slug weighs 1/2 oz.

A new design I came up that used a 7/8" hole saw, deburring tools, and a file. Each lead slug weighs 1/2 oz and features large hollow points. They worked surprisingly well for prototypes.

Today we test Alexey's third design of his brass penetrators. All three designs were the SAME weight but had different nose designs. Brass slugs like this are almost impossible to get obturation (expansion into the rifling) to get proper spin. Lead doesn't have this problem due to its softness. These may have been the most powerful slugs we have tested....

We have gotten a LOT of requests to do this and a viewer name Thadius stepped up and offered to send some for testing. I couldn't find these anywhere. We really thought these were going to be gimmicky, overpriced sucker-bait. Surprisingly they performed pretty well. See for yourself and maybe you'll agree.

First I want to congratulate Lewis Gillard who won July's give-away.
This month we have another set of interesting slugs we recovered. The Anferov Bullet (with some ragged sabots), Evan's 50 bmg case slug, Tim's Tenderizer, Finnish scientist polycarbonate slug, and 3d printed carbon fiber slug. All of...

hi everyone. Today we have another creative design by Evan Perry. Evan has a remarkable success-rate for his unusual shotgun slugs. These were no exception.

We are back filming after a couple weeks of too-many reasons for not filming. We test out some Russian discarding sabot slugs, which were pretty tricky to get a decent powder load for. It was hard to find a compatible American powder for this one to function but we thought outside the box to make it work.

Several of you have asked me to keep you advised on how Danny is doing. I haven't explained much what is going on because he wanted to wait until HE knew everything.
When we filmed the footage for the subsonic dumbbell slugs on a pretty warm day, Danny felt VERY weak near the end and almost wasn't able to finish the last couple shots. He fig...

This is sort of a channel trailer showing how versatile the 12ga shotgun is. I wasn't able to film anything this week because of several reasons but wanted to get something interesting out still.

We try to recover as many shot slugs as we can and I end up throwing them into a box to save. Perhaps you might be interested in displaying a set of these. All of these were in a video and were shot and filmed.
Left to right:
Tenderizer, Slug from Hell, Carbon fiber slug, subsonic dumbbell, and Gatekeeper<...

The latest creation from Ballistic Machinist's diabolical mind.
At the end of the video you may have noticed "get well Danny". He was hospitalized yesterday and I'm not sure if anyone knows what is wrong with him. He was experienced extreme fatigue and weakness the last time we filmed together. We thought it was just the heat but it might be some...

We test out slugs cast in the Minie ball shape out of hot glue with a steel ball in them. The goal was to get them to 2000 fps.
We set out to film the Anferov Bullets of Russian design but had problem with the sabots being stripped away. It can be tough to find American powders that replicate Russian powders.

Tim sent us some of his new slugs to test out. I noticed that even in some of his shots he had a couple go wild and miss. But with the high speed camera footage it should help him wring out the issues.
thanks everyone! Still having good luck keeping stuff monetized.

We test the Twister slugs with the green BRP12 wads which made quite a difference in performance as well as keeping the slugs a little shorter. This increased the capacity in my 590 from 8 to 9 in the tube magazine. These are designed for smooth bores. The wad acts as a stabilizer. We had pretty good results using full rifling but I suspect ...

We test out some very old slugs which were meant to be used as an anti-materiel round. (commonly misspelled as "material" ).
Designed to penetrated engine blocks and other barriers. The problem is they are about 45 years old. (older than a few of our viewers!) Actually a good demonstration of what happens to some powders after so many years.
I mad...

Very interesting defense slug that behaves like a huge "varmint grenade" when impacting flesh/water/gel. These are pretty new and I haven't found any load data on them. Like many tests, I have to start from scratch and guestimate what velocity they might perform well at. In this test, I think they would have been more accur...

I was told these were carbon fiber, and later told they were carbon fiberish. Once I got them, it was apparent they were 3d printed, probably using carbon fiber filament. I had almost no hope for them being strong enough to propel them at full velocity, but heck I'm wrong a lot too.

Sorry for the late posting, but sometimes it's hard to sync up everyones' schedules. We test Tim's newest oddball slug that was more of a demonstration of the capabilities of his 5 axis mill than an idea for a great slug.

When we filmed this, it seemed nothing was really going as planned and I almost abandoned this project completely. These "twister" slugs consistently separated from the wad- the little screw kept getting stripped out. The footage actually turned out quite surprising as the defect caused unexpected results like the tennis racket theorem and the magnus ef...

Since "bird bombs" or "bird bangers" have become regulated and difficult to obtain, we tested some alternatives that are designed differently but function pretty much the same way.
