The story of Another Sam In My Bed

This shoot took me by surprise. Sam and I had met for a coffee to discuss a shoot about 18 months before it happened. At the time he was a bit nervous about doing it and adamant about no full frontal. It was just one of those shoots that was hard to coordinate and at a couple of points I really wasn't sure it would ever happen.

When Sam turned up for the shoot in June last year he was sti...

What's your brand?

With the rise of social media and influencer culture we have developed a generation of people that are very focused on their brand. I have recently had a model cull a bunch of photos from a download (yet to be released) because they didn't align with his brand.

Now, if he'd said they just showed a little more than he was comfortable with or he didn't like his facial expression in them the...

Kane - Download

I feel very privileged when people visit Australia from somewhere else in the world or visit Sydney from another part of the country, and they make time to do a photo shoot with me. Kane recently visited Australia and got in touch to
ask if I was interested in collaborating on a shoot. Of course I said yes.

It was definitely the first time a model has been holidaying with his mother ...

Adding more strings?

This week at work we had some bad news. We have lost the client that I work on which is one of the big accounts my company has which means that potentially about 15 of us may lose our jobs by the end of March, if not before.

I quite like having a full time job that I enjoy that keeps me in rent and food but also enables me enough time and energy to pursue passions like photography. With t...

Finding it challenging.

Over the past few years of releasing downloads I found myself in a cycle that I was really comfortable with rotating between outdoor shoots, studio shoots and indoor shoots. The indoor shoots relied on natural light. In Covid those shoots were the start of the In My Bed series. As I've posted about before, the apartment I'm now living in doesn't lend itself to shoots at all with not enough ligh...

Robbie & Jim - November Wallpaper

It's that time of the month. Time to share another image cropped to fit your desktop perfectly.

This shoot with Robbie and jim was such a treat. It definitely reminded me to jump at all the opportunities no matter how much it might intimidate me. The chance to photograph a beautiful, and lovely, nude Olympian isn't a chance I'll get often.

Stephane - Download

Eight years after he last stepped in front of my camera, Stephane told me he was keen to collaborate again.

I was testing my new camera out so we kept it really nice and simple going for a classic black and white. Stephane is much more grey than he was last time we worked together but he wears it really well.

Defining shy...

There was a comment on my post about Dane yesterday that said "Such an handsome man so shy? Can't understand." Believe me, I have had the same thought about some of the guys that have said no to a shoot because they don't feel confident enough. I was having a conversation today with a friend about this. Some of the most beautiful men I've known and photographed have been the most insecure.

The story of Dane...

This shoot was back in February 2019. Like a lot of my models over the past few years I found Dane on Instagram. We don't really have any close friends in common I don't think but several instagram friends in common. Part of the reason I'm really trying not to lose my instagram account is that it is pretty much my portfolio now when I reach out to people. They can see that I'm legitimate and th...

When Instagram goes rogue.

There are rules of engagement in just about every aspect of life. Some are legally binding. Some are just common courtesy. Then there is social media. Working in nude photography means that there are games to be played in using Instagram to market my work and I believe I've been pretty careful in playing by the rules of that game.

However, lately I have been stuck in a merry-go-round of a...

Duo 4 - Download

When someone like a gay Olympic athlete wants to do a shoot with me, it's humbling. It also comes with a sense of responsibility. He has sponsors and a national sport committee to keep happy but Robbie was such a delight to work with that all my concerns went away.

Robbie contacted me saying he was coming to Sydney and wanted to shoot. He also asked if I knew any other models he could do ...

A beautiful vibe

Kids these days would be mortified to hear about the "good old days" of the YMCA in America where men swum and possibly even worked out nude without a care in the world. Times have changed so much. These days barely anyone even showers at the gym let alone in open communal showers and that's a shame.

When did we start getting so uptight about nudity? I know it was already starting before ...

The story of Haunted

Sadly, there is a dark side to humanity and it can scar people. My mate Tom works in a part of policing that sees a lot of the worst side of humanity and he has been affected by it. After doing a few shoots with me earlier he floated the idea of doing a shoot to raise money for PTSD charity and of course I was happy to. Getting up close and personal

When I bought my new camera a couple of months ago, I bought it with the plan to use my existing lenses but sadly my fixed portrait lens didn't work with the adaptor connection. It was a fairly cheap lens so I'm not surprised.

The lens that did work with my adaptor covers that focal length but I do prefer a fixed/prime lens where possible as it is just a bit sharper. Yesterday I collected...

October Wallpaper Download

Once again it is the first Tuesday of the month and the star of this month's wallpaper download image is New Zealand Olympic Rower, Robbie Manson. Getting to meet Robbie and getting the privilege of photographing him was so much fun. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He's also bloody gorgeous.

Photographing elite male athletes nude may become my new favourite way to spend my ...

A shout out to Tim!

Everyone obviously loves seeing my models in the photos and when I can arrange it, in a behind the scenes video. The unsung hero of those behind the scenes videos is Tim.

You're going to love this one.

Even after doing this photography shenanigans for 20 years now, I'm surprised when people who I perceive as out of my realm get in touch to work with me. Last year sometime, Olympic Rower Robbie Manson from New Zealand got in touch about working together.

We have chatted on and off for a while about it and now that the pesky little event called the Olympics is over, Robbie has made it to ...

Wes at home - EXCLUSIVE Download

“At Home” is the evolution of my previous “In My Bed” series. Instead of photographing models in my bed, now I capture them in their own space, helping them relax as well as to showcase more of who they are.

This is Wes. I put a call out on Instagram a while ago looking for models to photograph at home and Wes put his hand up straight away. Wes is one of those guys that looks big ...

Finding a direction...

While my exhibition "Manyone" last year may have been financially challenging, it was very much a creative endeavour that I enjoyed. I keep finding myself thinking about what direction to go in for the next one. There are no immediate plans for another exhibition but it will happen one day.

Going to a new home

This image "Night Swim" from my exhibition last year has just found a new home.

This shot was taken in May last year as the weather was getting quite cold here in Sydney and it stars a very dear friend, Bryce who was nervous about his first ever shoot, let alone nude shoot.

Because of the temperatures we kept it fairly fast which was also necessary because it was taken at a very pub...

Saturday was my first day shooting with the new camera. To say I have a lot to learn is an understatement but it was a lot of fun.

First up Axle and I started outdoors at Cobblers beach with a fairly early morning shoot where Axle was very grateful we weren't doing an underwater shoot because there was a chilly breeze and the water was COLD.

Then we headed to the studio (after a yum...

Finding direction

On Saturday I went and picked up my new camera and I'm very excited. It's getting it's first test run this weekend both outdoors and in the studio.

Part of my reason for buying this camera was the video capabilities since my old camera was a bit more limited. Now that I have more options I want to experiment but also stay true to my own style.

There have been a few different artists...
