A beautiful vibe
Added 2024-10-15 08:32:58 +0000 UTCKids these days would be mortified to hear about the "good old days" of the YMCA in America where men swum and possibly even worked out nude without a care in the world. Times have changed so much. These days barely anyone even showers at the gym let alone in open communal showers and that's a shame.
When did we start getting so uptight about nudity? I know it was already starting before everyone had a camera in their pocket. I'm firmly believe that if we had communal open showers at gyms etc again, there would be a lot less body image issues.
When I was preparing to photograph Robbie the gorgeous Olympic rower and he asked me if I knew any models who would be interested in a non-sexual nude collaboration shoot we discussed that really cool, possibly long-lost mood of guys just relaxing nude together.
I would LOVE to do a shoot of a group of guys like this. I have no idea where but capturing that relaxed mood of a group of mates naked on a beach together or away for a weekend where clothes weren't a concern would be such a beautiful vibe.

I was in school during the time we swam naked in the pool at the YMCA and Boys Club, skinny dipped at Summer Camp or local watering hole, no cares changing or showering. Changes in the mid 70s...better pool filtration, ie no more naked swimming, the advent of backlash of puritanical views against 60's free mentality...ie equate nudity with sex. of course, 70's laws than regulated nudity in movies., Anita Bryant 1977 save our children crusade against gays....so many factors. nieces and nephews aghast at the fact we swam naked.
