Getting up close and personal
Added 2024-10-10 22:32:16 +0000 UTCWhen I bought my new camera a couple of months ago, I bought it with the plan to use my existing lenses but sadly my fixed portrait lens didn't work with the adaptor connection. It was a fairly cheap lens so I'm not surprised.
The lens that did work with my adaptor covers that focal length but I do prefer a fixed/prime lens where possible as it is just a bit sharper. Yesterday I collected a new 85mm lens. No I didn't go absolutely crazy and buy the $4,500 one that I can only justify in my dreams but another model that Canon has on offer. It was described as a macro lens too which was very appealing.
None of my previous lenses let me get as close as I would have liked for some really intriguing close-up shots. After unboxing the new lens I did a quick test and I can get much closer to my subjects now which will mean we get some more variation in angles and I can play with depth of field a bit more. Fun times!
Doing an image search for this post I made the mistake of searching for macro photography of male nudes. The results were either standard nude photos of rather medical looking close ups of genitals that didn't look great at all. Let's see if we can create something a bit more beautiful.
