The story of Haunted

Sadly, there is a dark side to humanity and it can scar people. My mate Tom works in a part of policing that sees a lot of the worst side of humanity and he has been affected by it. After doing a few shoots with me earlier he floated the idea of doing a shoot to raise money for PTSD charity and of course I was happy to. All of the proceeds of the Haunted download for the first month of sales (when the vast majority happen) went to Tom's charity of choice.

It was very late in Autumn when we shot these images in a part of Australia that is NOT renowned for it's warmth. We got up early on a Sunday morning and headed to Kambah Pools, a section of river that is designated clothing optional because it's always best to minimise the chance of offending people. Given the time of year and the temperature we really weren't expecting to see anyone anyway.

Given this shoot was for Tom, I let him take the lead creatively and he had sourced some masks etc. Thinking back, this was the first time I tried locking the camera off on a tripod to merge several exposures in one image. Was it the inspiration for the MANYONE exhibition? Maybe.

Tom has a stunning physique and a look that a lot of people find attractive. He's always very easy to photograph and puts up with my silly directions asking him to lie in the grass or perch on a tree stump in near freezing temperatures without complaint. Bless him.
