Failure

My failure as a creator has led to more or less almost all of you, my patrons leaving this behind. I don't blame them. There's no real excuse for my lack of work or many months of hiatus aside from the spiel of "Life got hard" and "Schedule conflicts" and so on.

That said, I am picking things back up again, though I must say the following.

For all who read this now and into the futu...

Claptrap Chapter 35: Last Second Luck

My shotgun swept around me as I reappeared inside the entrance to what could only be Sledge’s former bandit fortress. Specifically, the spot where the player could purchase health and ammo just before fighting the guy.

I had to roll sideways as Clappy appeared in midair and crashed onto his face with a yelp, RPG shotgun in hand, and thankfully not firing like it we were in Loony Toons.<...

Update - New Stories and Family

Good News first.

After some hard work, I managed to actually recover my lost data. Took taking a standard HD apart and reworking it, but I managed to pull my user data from it, so I am back on. I have been working to combine what I have written so far with what I had written prior to the dead computer.

I also will be posting a few chapters for other stories before the end of this mo...

Remember when I said I was working on posting chapters within the week of my last update?

Well, I couldn't because my computer decided to die of a sudden case of "Wet".

Water got spilt on it, and the hard drive with all my stuff got fried with the machine. So all that stuff? Gone.

I have to start all over again.

Fortunately, I have all the stories written out on SB and h...

Update

So where the hell have I been the last month+.

Well, you were already aware of the wind, and the damage it did to my folks house, and how we had to fix that, and how winter couldn't decide whether to stay or go. Well it came and stayed a few days after my last Claptrap Chapter and it got cold. -15 was the coldest it got and I, and the folks, were burning tons of wood. Actual tons. Probabl...

Update

Finally got to writing.

That windstorm I mentioned before did way more damage than you know. Not to me, as I got it mostly light, but where my parents were, it was 80+ winds. Part of their house got torn off, and exposed the insulation to the world, and did damage to the roof of the tower that's part of the house.

The part of the house we could put back together, we did, and the par...

Claptrap Chapter 34: Between Quests.

I reappeared from the Fast Travel pad in the Depot, and felt the need to pull out a weapon despite the fact the door was locked. No one could just walk in here now since the thumb on the key ring gave us Claptraps administrative control, but I still felt wary about the place.

Clappy appeared a few seconds after me and rolled into the facility.

Helloooo! Maverick? Where are yo...

So... About my "I'm gonna post two chapters this week." I said before.

Remember when I said winter hadn't decided whether to stay or go? Well it snowed the day I posted, and it snowed heavily, so I had to work that whole day on that mess.

and THEN, a warm front came in and melted all that snow, but it also rained. So much that it was actually causing some minor flooding, and the wi...

Claptrap Chapter 33: Breaking the Law

“Are you done trying to break your face now?” Clappy asked impatiently as I rolled towards the dump yard

“Yep. Gonna have to invest in a few healing injectors or something since apparentlythey work on bots like us.” I groused as I began to fiddle with the Grinder. Clappy watched as I placed my Maliwan Incendiary Sniper, the Vladof Sniper, and a Torgue SAW onto the plates....

Things got busy this last week, and I couldn't focus on writing. three vehicles have malfunctioned in various ways so I have to deal with that. Winter hasn't decided to stay or go because it snows, then thaws, and then snows, and thaws again, and it just makes a mess. Lastly, wood cutting and stacking needs done, which is a time in itself.

I was able to write only in the last few days, an...

Claptrap Chapter 32 - Learning Costs

I felt my wheel drag as Maverick pulled me into Fyrestone, noticing the gate moving above me, I remarked how I was going gently down the stream like it was a dream. My vision was flickering as errors and warnings blared in my non-existent ears.

Then again that might have been Clappy. I could hear a shriek fill the air as a yellow shaped box appear in my vision, eye glowing brightly. I fel...

Gates of War - Chapter 10 (Commander SI - Multiverse)

CID: Day 163

I watched as one of two orbital factories finished constructing one of my new projects. One of my first homemade ship designs, designated “Quiver”, was a spacecraft carrier design. It was a rather simple design, following the philosophy of the Terran Federation ships in form, but possessed an appearance of sharp angles and squared hull plating th...

Update

I think it's safe to say that as many people who wanted to vote on the poll, have, and it is done.

So here's what's gonna happen for at least the foreseeable future (2-3 months).

Claptrap is gonna be the primary story, everything else is secondary. Commander and Rifts will be ramped down to an occasional posting, rather than a weekly that I had been aiming for.

Pros: Claptrap ...

Story Poll

This is a poll for everyone.

I'm near the end of the Commander Chapters I had already written and after chapter 10, I will need to start writing new ones. since Claptrap is my primary story here, I will focus mostly on that rather than anything else, but it does bring up a question.

I got a couple of stories on hold because of one thing or another (Life/Universe/Everything), but if ...

Gates of War - Chapter 9 (Commander SI - Multiverse)

CID: Day 102

I watched my new Commander Modification Platform as a dozen fabrication arms slowly completed the preliminary work for a new prototype Commander Chassis. Two days after I had acquired the TFDF ships, I had finally gotten around to reading that third Datacore and took a long read into the complete military database it possessed, and every single thing...

Claptrap Chapter 31 - Fate or Luck, It's fickle.

Shaking myself about, losing up gears and joints that can’t really be “loosened up” without oil and grease, I took my new S&S Machine Shock Pistol in hand and slowly rolled towards the edge of the “arena”. Once upon a time this specific spot of the Depot was a deep core mining hole that they dug Eridium for, until it ran out. Then it was turned into Dahl’s Military Depot, keepin...

Claptrap Chapter 30: Corporate BS and Gabby Bots

“In a matter of speaking.” I replied in a darkly amused tone. “I had to repair you after these bandits got messed up in a fight. Mutants are barely controllable at the best of times you know?” I lied as I waved at the absolute ludicrous gibs that splattered the hallway behind me.

The blue robot leaned to the right and slowly nodded. “I suppose so. I had noticed they were a tad o...

CID: Day 42

After two more days, more reading, finishing the second core, a bunch of experimenting, extensive commander modification, and one realization later, I had finally found the ships. Due to orbital drift over the last few centuries, the ships were found nearly opposite of where my reconnaissance had begun. The realization that allowed me to find them so ...

Claptrap Chapter 29 - A Clapful of Luck

The entry of the depot was…to put it lightly, creepy. The game made it menacing with music mixed with sound effects such as metal scrapping, and static acting as a percussion to musical tones that wouldn’t be out of place in Dead Space.

Looking at it with my own eye, for real, I was already on edge. Not in a “I’m about to get in a fight for my life” edge, more like “A necromor...

Claptrap Chapter 28 - Bringing the Heat

I rolled up slowly, my wheels making my moves near soundless unless you were within a few feet of distance. I remembered this part of the game, and while I wouldn’t count on them to determine what I would face, I could rely on them to give me directions. My eye wandered up to the sniper nest hanging up at the distance, and I could see a Bandit sitting there on the ledge, looking bore...

CID: Day 40

I was barely able to handle it.

To say that it was a bit difficult to focus and put all of the data from one hundred thousand individual lines of thought in a proper place once you are finished reading, was like saying the ocean was wet.

I was glad I had the presence of mind to only do one data core at a time, and while it was time consumi...

I got sick.

It wasn't Covid thankfully, but instead a sinus infection.

It was enough to make me bed ridden for near a week though, so I only got partly done with the next chapter of Claptrap. Instead of writing, and actually working, I've just been reading, relaxing, and sleeping. It's only been in the last few days I was able to stay awake enough to do some stuff.

Gates of War - Chapter 6 (Commander SI - Multiverse)

CID: Day 34

Three days had gone by since my little battle in the skies, I had built up over a dozen orbital fabbers and hit the “reclaim” button on the space gun, and sent a few over to the farthest planet in the solar system.

The laser satellites were a bit harder to deal with, but fortunately the orbital fabbers possessed their own version of sensor j...

Claptrap - Sidestory Chapter 3 - The Devil on your Shoulder

The Vault hunters approached the Preservation before the break of dawn. The sun was still a distance away in time; thus, the sky was a clear navy blue, and the air crisp with a chill mixed with the moisture of the nearby river and sea.

“Hope this is worth it. Hate to waste all this effort for nothing.” Axton grumbled, still smarting over the last mission they had done.

“Even i...

Claptrap Chapter 27 - A New Path

Doctor Zed grimaced as he clamped off the vein that had splashed blood across his smock. The boy he was working on, for better or worse, was going to live. Unfortunately, the leg below the knee had to be amputated. There was too much tissue damage for any possible regeneration surgery, and exposure to various factors had caused the leg to get an infection. Cutting the limb apart was the easy pa...

Update - General

I got the next Claptrap chapter about ready, so that will be later today. The Rifts needs some editing, but that might be up today as well.

Lastly, I'm getting back into...

Gates of War - Chapter 5 (Commander SI - Multicross)

CID: Day 30.6

Upon the Teleporter’s completion, I began to pour my fabbers through and construct the usual Defense Grid, Energy, Extractor, and Storage complexes, in that order.

As they did that, I replotted the scout plane reconnaissance routes, making sure to stay out of the theoretical detection range of the orbital platform as it floated over. Since I...

Update - Claptrap / Rifts

This last week was mostly just me working to get things ready for the rewiring, so I didn't have to do anything dangerous, and this week looks to be more of the same. So I will have time to write the next chapters out.

It's good I had the last week off because I had the time to think which direction to take the next few chapters. I've already had been writing on and off the next Rifts cha...
