I made a little PDF a while ago, compiling tips and techniques I use to make paper models. Maybe you can use these to help building your own models!
You can get it here:

Happy building :-)

There are several ways to work with the ground tiles. For example to form larger maps, you can stick them together with removable cell tape or mount them on 5mm foam core
As a paper only solution I have applied the same principle as for the fold flat parts and come up with way of connecting the tiles.
Here I have connected my four unique bare dark earth ground tiles.

To control the different print options I am using layers. When you open a PDF file you might not see the layers window. To turn it visible, you have to click the red highlighted icon. Then the blue layer box appears.
Now you can see all the different layers and turn them on or off as required. When a layer has an eye icon in the little square box it is visible. When you click it off, the ey...

Here are some sketches of what I have in mind with the next set.
There will be a 4x2" building at normal height and a higher 4x3" version. Both will have the clay wall and the wood fill textures, but I envision them more with the wood panel look. To support this look, this time the fill panels go all the way up.
The smaller house you can modify by cutting out a part, as depicted in the li...

Patreon has done it's thing and I have dropped all the files to the box :-)
Enjoy your rewards! If you have build pics I would love to see them. Also if you find a problem I should look into, let me know and I will try to fix it ASAP.
I will add the ground files the next days, once I have fine tuned the light earth version.
Happy building!

Here is a look at the bare dark earth ground tiles. They are not yet mounted on the connectable tile system but just laid on the table. They have great details, rocks and old grass blades clutter. This will be the base for "empty" ground tiles.
I will make the same for light earth ground tiles in a more dry earth or desert look. Next I will try to get my grass generation right so I ca...

While I am finishing the first set (I have just completed fine tuning the bare earth ground tiles and some extras for tinkerers) I am looking towards the next set of the Samurai Village Builder series.
I want to make two buildings in the texture style of the lean-to. I have often seen this style in pictures of mountain villages and forts.
A smaller building could be a stable, a works...

My first set on Patreon is finished and is going live! Hooray!!! :-)
To collect your rewards, you will receive an eMail authorizing you to access the appropriate Dropbox folders for download.
Normally I will wait for Patreon to actually charge the users at the end of the month, so I can see who came through. But as this is my first release here, I will start with the lean-to files in...

Tomorrow I will release the Samurai Village Builder #1 set with a "charge patrons" post.
It will contain the house and the leanto I have shown these past days in several configurations depending on the reward layer.
LVL$2: basic configuration with fixed skin
LVL$3: all the variations included
LVL$4: cut files for the buildings
According to how you signed up you will be a...

While I am preparing my first release here on Patreon there is not much to show ... but a little to tell. I want to talk about how I intend to go about the release process.
I will create dropbox folders for each reward tier and use your email to authorize you for the appropriate folders. You will then receive an eMail to create/activate your access.
Once I make the "charge patrons" post th...

I have built a textured version and I call it a success! Above you see one full house completely folded flat.
I was curious to see how the textured version of the fold flat assembly would hold up, but I think you will agree that it looks great. The gaps don't really show and even when you have a little gap, with good color edging it still looks great.

Starting with the fold flat adaptation for the Japanese roof. I basically took the design for the walls and then redistributed the connectors along the edges. I was surprised to find that this alone made a tight roof once assembled. The parts are being held very nicely together!

To round it off I a...

I have made the fold flat system a little simpler. Actually this is the design I have made some time ago for connecting ground tiles ... and I just remembered it again :-)
So with that I have built a house using the fold flat system. Above you see the parts disassembled and below put together!

I think I got all the details in place to make the houses even more interesting. In the first pic above you see the second framework variation with the door in the middle. And all option layers turned on!
Below you see all the options available independently.

After the dark comes the light :-) I have prepared my ground texturing file to support more color schemes. I am using Blender to add texture modules to build a library I can use and reuse as required.
Here I have changed the color values to a light dry or sandy version and am now able to switch between the dark and light. I can also generate different noise patterns to produce unique looking til...

I think I have fine tuned my first ground texture to a point where I can show it. This is my dark earth texture base. It took my a while to find the right colors and tones to make it work.
I also will make a lighter version which is more sand color. These will be the base for either bare dirt ground or adding plants, like grass and weeds, or other details like roads for later versions. And ...

Another thing I have started to tackle is the fold-flat adaptations. Some like the build the models in a version where you are able to disassemble the parts and "fold flat" in a box either for safe storage and/or easy transporting.

I have created and tested the walls and they work gr...

Today it is time for another public sneek peek, to get visitors a chance to see what we have been working on lately :-)
What you are seeing is one building type with one optional lean-to that you can print and build in hundreds of color and texture variations. The four houses have different and unique color variations, roof details, door and window arrangements and wall styles.

I have finished texturing the first building type. How do you like it so far?
I see a couple of small things to improve but overall I like it. I want to make a couple of variations for color and placement of door and windows, so that multiple houses will not all look the same. The village is growing in my mind :-)

This year I will continue my theme of buildings and vehicles of feudal Japan. Then I want to add some more Savages Settlements. And finally I will start to foray into the classic fantasy medieval structures. If time allows I will also try to squeeze in some Sci-Fi elements.
So now is a great time to tell me your ideas, wishes and needs and let's see what we can do together!
