I am continuing the development of the wagon. For the detailed version I am trying to recreate the wheel suspension with the paper equivalent of feather springs.
The springs are really easy to build as it just involves gluing layers of paper strips and bending in the right shape. I have used shaping parts to help the springs dry in the right curve.

For a while I have been working on the hearse wagon geometry and was not happy with the results. I tried a very simple basic-almost-box shape but I wasn't happy with the look as it never really looked like the reference.
Then I split the single box approach into segments. Now I have the main wagon, the front seat and base holding it all together. Then of course the whole wheels section. T...

I have finished the build of the advanced version of the Mausoleum. Utilizing the double up layer option, I have prepared a file (released soon on DELUXE version) where you layer a couple of parts to form the recesses at the portal/door and trefoil opening.
Here is a closeup to see the shape of the portal section. You also see a hint of the side wall double up parts I have made for ...

One thing I always like to do is "upgrade" a build by doubling up details. So for the Mausoleum I have prepared a file with the parts required to do a recessed main portal.

Also to make the roof 3D I have added special parts. Either a more easy "just" recessed root tile plane ...

Now that I have release the DELUXE and BASIC Edition of the graveyard sets I will focus on another addition to this theme next. Check out the article on my homepage for more pics and details.
Here's a sketch of a hearse wagon I want to do next. For the small wheel I think I can reuse the one from the ...

For the Mausoluem I have made one more ornament option while building the final promo build. I wanted to do these from the beginning as they are part of the building I was inspired by but I wasn't sure I would have enough time to get it all done before Halloween.
But if there are no surprises while making the instructions I think the Mausoleum will come out end of the week. I have a...

I wanted to try out how the fence would look with all the in-between spaces cut out.
I tried it with my auto-cutter but - at least for me, I heard others believe it would work, it just tore most of the small sections rather than cut it clean. If I get pics from others with an auto-cut version I will post them.
So I went to manually cut it all out. Turns out it's actually not that di...

The biggest challenge for the fences was to get the texture right. In real life they are basically a lot of thin black lines. Combine that with the black (or any) background in a texture and it can come become an unreadable pixel porridge very fast.
When doing research I quickly was fond of designs with lots of spikes. So in the end I decided to create this pattern for the fence. After th...

This basic bit is the "Halloween edition" of the bits this year. As announced this month you are getting Graves! Great for graveyards, chapels or just simple graves in the landscape.
The free bits contain:

- easy "grave mound" base

I have painted all the platform related parts and assembled a test build. There is no weathering yet, so it all looks unnaturally pristine. Once I have added the wear and tear of time it should look more like one would expect an old graveyard building to be! Also I used the yellowish sandstone color layer. You can choose from a couple of color modifiers like standard gray, red stone, green (jad...

I have made some progress with the texturing and have completed the core building. You can turn the door on or off (for the backside) and the round opening in the top you can also turn off or switch between a quatrefoil and a trefoil ornament.
The building on the left is the bare core building. The one on the platform is the same but with the corner pillars added and the additional top el...

I have planned the mausoleum as a stand alone building with an optional raised platform. The core elements will be very simple to build and then I will add some elements to add different details if you want to upgrade your model(s) or build a couple of different versions!
This is the core shape of the building. It is inspired by the Winchester Family Tomb in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery. While...

Some time ago I noticed that Halloween is not far away and I decided to make a couple of items for a graveyard scenario.
Above you can see the headstones I am working on, which will be a bonus "bit" this month. With the advanced version you can specify oh so many options for customization. They are designed to be either build like paper minis and put into graveyard bases, which I have yet...

I will be off for a week accompanying my girl friend on a GIS project. So that will be into-the-woods from morning to evening for a week :-)
I have made one last minute addition to the DELUXE editions: I have added the page with the palm frond roof lines, for making the advanced 3D version of these roof types, either for the TVB sets or actually any set you have that would use that.

Here's a quick look at what the "Basic Bit" this month will be.
From the left to right it's the simple free version followed by the advanced and double up detailed 3D version. The metal fastening bar and bolts are options so you can turn them on or off as required.
Now I will build a couple more for the Pirate tavern veranda :-)

I have started working on the next Tropical Village Builder set: the 4X4 core house and the 4x2 extension.
The geometry was easy to adjust and I hope the texturing will go fast too.
One thing I have talked about before was that I would like to make the roof also in "3D" mode, meaning that one can double up details and make it look more "full" and less flat.

I have added the cutfiles to the Tropical Village builder sets. I know the OBS version has eMailed existing customers about this so they know to download the updated file. Not sure about Gumroad store. Can anyone let me know about this?

One of the things I have been doing the last days is preparing some decoration tokens to dress the walls of houses. In this case I have started with the Pirate Theme and created a couple of weapons and coats versions to hang on the inside or outside of houses.
The next building in the Tropical Village can be used as a storage or warehouse so the weapon racks could make more sense there. T...

Quick update: I was hoping to release the Village Builder #1 today but I have run into problems with the cut file software. After an upgrade I cannot save files anymore! If I cannot get this fixed by tomorrow, I will release with just the DXF files (which you can import into your Studio Designer software) and deliver the Studio3 files as soon as the software gets fixed.
