I've just tweaked the design and printing out version 2 (slightly tight a the base) so hopefully this one will be the final release. Print is nice and prints without support (assuming you've got a well dialled in printer!). It's a scary print with thin edges and overhangs / bridges. You can of course use support if this unnerves you :-). The STL file is in the Patreon Share, in the Jabba Tray fold...

I've done the first test design for the Jabba Glass (matches the tray I published a while back). Has 4 magnets in the base to match the tray, just printing now, without supports!! Some challenging bridges and angles but we'll see. The STL is available on the Patreon early bird share (in the Jabba tray folder) and will be in the open share in a few weeks! Really pleased with the design, let's see h...

Hey, I've updated the R5 dome published yesterday, added support, added the breadpan boxes, changed the top to allow better panels and facilitate opening panels for those bad motivators. Same file / location just make sure you update if you have the older file.
Happy printing,
Mike

The R5 single print dome is now in the Patreon Share (well 2 part print as the lower ring is a separate print but it's much easier than the jigsaw piece version). It's got some tough overhangs, I've added supports built in to accommodate the overhangs and to minimise plastic use. Not tested (I really need to get a Cr10 500mm printer so I can test print these). Enjoy!
Happy printing,
Mike,<...

Hi all,
Here's the latest Fusion video 6, showing part 6 of creating the R4 Dome in Fusion finally published a printable single file! Also shared is the final Fusion design. Password for the Fusion Shares is mrbaddeley
I've added the backlog of of links also as I know Patreon isn't easy to sort through.

OK, not in the slightest R2 related (well, guess via Disney, twice removed). But I've designed the StormBreaker, Thor's new weapon from the Avengers Infinity War. It's a big old print (full scale). I'm not deviating from R2 at all ,It's for a personal project but thought it may be good to share with you...

I've completed part 6 of the Fusion Design video (this is part of the dedicated Patreon series, taking you from the basics through to a full dome design) and part 6 has resulted in the Single Print model for those with the Cr-10 s5 (500x500mm print bed). In the Patreon share, you'll find the R4 folder with a single print files for the R4 dome. (The 200mm cut version will be out shorted as I'm desi...

I’ve fitted the centre lift module to the main frame. Really wanted to test the strength of the lift frame. Fit is good, want to reduce the size a little bit and strengthen a tweak but overall it’s coming along. it’s going to be a big job as I said before, as this part is critical. I will release other stuff in between as this takes shape.

Here’s the Fusion design for the legs and greebles (as requested 😊).
I also thought I’d put the links to all the fusion files in one note (and add to it as Patreon isn’t particularly user friendly.
All files are free to do whatever you want to with (except selling or making money from them, as many Bothans died to bring us this information!

Just finished the main frame (and printed it now). Got to say I’m extremely happy so far. It’s very, very strong and fits together nicely like a big Mechano kit. The gearing is tight and smooth. So far, so good. Just printing the platform now for the centre leg, again happy with the design. Got to do loads of testing but initial thoughts are we are definitely getting there.

Here’s the Fusion design for the R2 trays, I’ve included both three and two leg versions, although I suspect the two leg version isn’t so popular.

The lift mechanism is really coming together, but fancied something different in my spare time. I've wrestled with sculpting (rather than hard modelling as I'm used to) for some time, never with any real success. Anyhow I thought I'd give it a go again with Mudbox and really pleased with the first attempt. Chose Thanos for no other reason than I'd just watched the movie. This isn't going to be my ...

The centre lift mechanism isn't easy. You've got to fit the thing in the middle of Artoo, not interfere with the dome or dome rotation mechanism. It's got to be strong, robust and fairly fast. Also it's got to take the weight of the full droid and finally there's loads of electronics (it's got to know when it's up or down, has to stop at the right point) and that's just a few bits to consider. The...

A fabulous contribution from one of our community, Hajuskin is an alternative Drive Belt / Wheels for the drive mechanisms if anyone is having issues. He's very kindly shared with the group so I've added to the public share in the feet drive section for anyone who wants to test / use this configuration. A huge thanks again for sharing!!!

A huge apologies for the delay on getting some notes together on attaching the lazy susan (I've been Lazy :-) but they're here now. I've added them to the instruction folder in both shares so it take you through step by step on how to get it all together...

A whole weekend of printing and testing tolerances... I've literally printed the drive gear box probably 4 or 5 times. Nearly there, still got some tweaks but I'm happy with the running and meshing of the gears. Overall pleased. Size wise, I've still got some chopping to do, to fit the lift mechanism into the body is not that easy and when you've a fair bit inside it's a squeeze but we're getting ...

I've just updated the R7 dome STL (single print). No biggy, but forgot to put the holes on the base of the dome to match to the ring. If you've started printing you can continue and drill out using a 4mm drill (or restart if you're only just in). Caught this one early :-)

I've had a few questions on getting started with Fusion, just a quick reminder (and look back through the Patreon posts), we've got 6 or 7 videos on starting with fusion and the live build of the R4 dome (still to be completed). These are available along with the models to all dedicated Patreons ($5 and above), you can filter the posts to find the messages, if you struggle drop me an IM.

So this time I'm releasing the full single print dome first. This R7 dome I'm really pleased with, I've added built in support for all details so hopefully it will print with no extra support. The file is in the Patreon share (top level). I'll upload greebles etc soon.

Only a small (but nice) update. I've tweaked all the doors to use the 45 degree angle print like the side pockets. They're much easier to print, need little assembly and most importantly appear to print with virtually no bend or warping (thank the maker!). Don't worry, the R7 dome is on it's way soon and I'm still working on the 2-3-2. Had a little set back this week with a rather bad jam on the P...

I’ve altered the door cuts, always bugged me on previously builds the number of pieces and warping. I’ve cut them the same as the side pockets and first tests look superb!! This is a half long door as my bed isn’t big enough for w full print but no support, no warping (ABS!) and look near perfect. Printing the other half but I think I’ll revise all the doors for this method.
