Super Mario Bros. Theme

This is a very interesting song for flatpickers. The original melody has two voices but I decided  to divide them instead into lead and bass line.

Initially I wanted to give it a Latin sound by way of upright bass and Latin drum, but I got  the same effect having the upright bass but keeping the original drum machine from the game :)

A lot of syncopated notes also contribu...

Behind the scenes (June, 2020)

Hi guys! Here is an update on my next cover. It's Le Festin, a very nice song from Disney's  movie Ratatouille.

For  this one I decided to go back to the Recording King guitar (now proudly  owned by one of  my students šŸ˜‰) to get that nice crisp tone from some of my previous  covers (Pink Panther, Up theme, Take Five). That tone is the resulting  combin...

The Girl from Ipanema

This one has been arranged for two guitars: a solo guitar and a straightforward bossa nova rhythm accompaniment.

The brilliant thing about it is that both theme and accompaniment can also stand alone because they each sound good on their own.

As you probably know this song has an A-A-B-A form. The B part has quite an exciting harmony that merges beautifully with the famous A part, a...

Behind the scenes (June, 2020)

Hey guys! Here is a preview of my new cover. It is a well known song composed by Jobim which I am sure you will recognize šŸ˜‰

This time I chose to avoid VST instruments and just shoot for a nice,  clean guitar tone. The arrangement is for two guitars; I used my old  Sekova guitar for the bossa nova accompaniment and a Takamine for the  theme and solo. The Sekova was record...

In the Summertime (Mungo Jerry)

I find this song so addictive to play! As I mentioned previously it does  have its challenges, but the time invested in it is totally worthwhile  as it will be a valuable addition to your fingerstyle repertoire. It is  interesting that this song has a form of  a 12 bar blues, yet doesn't sound like classic blues. I personally find  that the blues form always gives you a...

Behind the scenes (May - June, 2020)

Summer is almost here and Mango Jerry's classic In the Summertime is a  perfect song for the coming days. This happy song is ideal for fingerstyle, although it does have its challenges!  Here is a short audio excerpt of the first chorus - you'll have the whole song very soon.

Best Part - Daniel Caesar

Hey guys!
Here is the new song I've been working on. Prepare yourself for some good neo-soul vibe!

See you soon with more material! ;)

Behind the scenes (May, 2020)

Hello,  just a brief announcement of my next project. It is a neo-soul ballad  by Daniel Caesar called Best Part. The song is relatively new but it  quickly became very  popular. Notably it involves simple and very beautiful harmonies with  only four chords: Dmaj7, Am7, Gmaj7 and Bbmaj7. I crafted a fingerstyle  version of the song in order to best present both har...

Behind the scenes (April-May, 2020)

Ok, this time we have something quite different yet true to Guitar Logic style. Soundgarden's song Black Hole Sun can be such an ear worm! It popped into my mind again the other day and I thought I'd give it a go. I started with a clean fingerstyle sound but ended up adding effects: phaser, drive, tremolo, and reverb. Then some interesting lo-fi ambient electronic drums and it all came together...

Behind the scenes (April, 2020)

Here is another teaser for you! I’m almost done with Pat Metheny’s great tune Last Train Home. The original song is in the key of Bb but to make it easier to play I transposed it to A major and put a capo on the first fret. There are some wonderful harmonies in this song and it gave me great joy to play and record it, I hope you will find joy in it too.

Thank you all for your support!...

Coming up soon...

Hello!

Continuing with our repertoire of good music I would like to share some of the songs that I am currently working on.

The first one (almost done) would be the old tune Out Of Nowhere by Johnny Green. There are great versions of this song out there from Charlie Parker’s, to Sinatra’s, to Django Reinhardt’s, and many others. Interestingly enough, I couldn’t find any Trav...

Behind the scenes // Speak Low

Hello, I'm working on a new song! Speak Low, a wonderful tune by Kurt Weill. I have been intrigued for quite some time with Henri Salvador's version which sounds so simple and effortless. Then later I listened to Laurindo Almeida's version from his album Brazilliance - vol. 1 and I found the two versions had a lot in common with a slight difference in background rhythms.

My version builds...

Georgia on my mind

Hey guys, I hope you are all staying well during these turbulent times.

Here is some new music and tabs that will keep our hearts warm and our quarantine time fullfiled.

This is a fingerstyle cover of ā€œGeorgia on my mindā€ by Ray Charles. I'm actually making two versions in two different key signatures and two different styles. I'm half way done, but in the meantime...

Brazilian guitar - the new project / behind the scenes

I'm starting a new project which will be a collection of Brazilian guitar riffs.

My plan is to collect around 30 samba and bossa nova songs which have a dominant guitar pattern at the beginning and to present them in a single video.

Here are some audio examples of the pieces I have already made.

I recently started working on Scott Joplin's ā€œThe Entertainerā€. The original is written for piano in the key of C major and the usual version for guitar is in D major and drop D tuning. I made my own version in several keys, but decided that the key of E major sounds best!

Here are some examples...
