Breaking down my thought process when creating something with geometry nodes, as asked by Gehrig Campbell-Dempsey. Hope you find it useful!
Why I messed up the modulo:
I initially said that modulo creates sequences from 1 to 4, but actually from 0 to 3.
Why?
Well, modulo outputs the remainder of a division. So:
10mod5 = 0, because you can fit exactly tw...
2021-11-17 22:00:01 +0000 UTC View PostHey,
I've been sick the last week or so, luckily it turned out not to be corona. I'm slowly starting to get back on track and I have prepared the procedural setups that we are gonna work on. I try to show as much of the mindset that I have when creating things with geometry nodes and also what questions you should ask yourself when making something procedural.
We are gon...

I plan on making an exclusive tutorial for Patreon and I think I should ask you first what you are interested in.
So let me know if there's something you've seen and you'd like to know how to make in Blender. Or anything you feel would be useful. Write below and when enough people have responded, I'll start making what you voted for.

Hey, here's the project file I used for the render of the thumbnail ⬇. It has everything in it, also the setup of the tiny water droplets on the plant. In case of questions, let me know!
2021-10-25 13:54:33 +0000 UTC View PostAs I am currently preparing the 3.0 geometry nodes video, and the intro features a water simulation, I had the problem with rendertimes. It was two hours per frame. So sadly I wasted quite a bit of money on a renderfarm with no result :(
But to make sure this doesn't happen with you:
Don't use cycles native motion blur when you are also using foam/spray/bubble particles. This ...

So apparently geometry nodes have changed and to be honest I first felt in a way which doesn't have an English word. In Estonian this would be "I don't viitsi " which means pretty much that just don't have the time and energy to relearn/do everything. Because yes, my past videos are now useless! Lovely.
With this great depression in mind, I downloaded Blender 3.0, watched t...

Light wrap is something essential in sky compositing, so if you've ever wondered how to add skies to a transparent render, this is how you do it. Also as a small bonus I'll show you how to render your own film grain plates. Enjoy!

20 lens flares, mostly anamorphic, that you can use in your renders and add that last 5%. Enjoy!

Hey! I got the second COVID shot and I'm feeling pretty bad, so the cinematic video is delayed a bit. In the meantime I thought I could put out a video showing how to create a Minecraft texture out of any image, does this seem interesting to you? I feel this has potential for quite some views.

Happy evening, It's 9:52PM here and I did it! The render is ready and I'm gonna write the video outline now. I feel the right part of the image is 99% there, the left ice cliff part is for about 70% of what I'd like it to be, but I know that I'll learn faster if I make more artwork, instead of fiddling around with the same one infinitely. For the video, I've gathered quite a lot of scenes from ...

So today I worked a little bit on the right side of the image, adding this massive procedurally generated tower. I feel I still need some ice pieces in water and also polish the ice cliff on the left. The tutorial will be in a format where the timelapse of the scene creation plays in the background while I tell you all the techniques I know about cinematic rendering. I think I'll also pull up s...

So I decided to start working on a tutorial on cinematic renders and here is a little test I made today. It still need quite a bit of work but it's a general idea you know. What do you think of that?
2021-09-23 22:34:38 +0000 UTC View PostToday I'll have a rather meme-type video coming out, for the next tutorial I have some topics in mind, which one would you like to see?

If you've wanted to know how to make some pretty good procedural clouds in EEVEE, this is a video for you! We will discuss two ways of making them, pros and cons, and also some compositing in the end. I thought including a project file wouldn't be so useful as clouds are different every time and making them is more about the process than the exact nodes.
2021-09-13 17:13:18 +0000 UTC View Post
So this project file, which is also the thumbnail project file, contains the lighting asset (actually three) and also the clouds. At least Blender 3.0 is required, remember that!

Hi everyone, this is the intro for the next tutorial, this time we will be creating lightning bolts in geometry nodes. For Patreoners there will be an exclusive tutorial on the clouds. This is all rendered in EEVEE.

This is the full tutorial and the project file, I've also included the displacement map for the mountain. The view transform in the file is standard, so make sure you set it to filmic if you want to get the look I have in the thumbnail (this is also edited in photoshop of course). The view transform differences come from the fact that I have a wide-gamut display so I use different color setting...
