So apparently geometry nodes have changed and to be honest I first felt in a way which doesn't have an English word. In Estonian this would be "I don't viitsi " which means pretty much that just don't have the time and energy to relearn/do everything. Because yes, my past videos are now useless! Lovely.
With this great depression in mind, I downloaded Blender 3.0, watched the Blender HQ livestream and began the journey with fields. In short - this was a lot better than I thought! In my mind I had already the idea of some nerfed version of nodes but actually you can do all the old stuff, and a bunch of new too - the main difference being that you do all your attribute calculations in a separate area from your main nodetree. And just like with shaders.
So I'll make a beginner tutorial but nothing too dumb easy there, don't worry. Still some phyllotaxis formulas and vector alignment for all you procedural friends! Stay tuned!
I also have a screenshot attached which shows how the water simulation in the end should actually look like. Currently trying to book my university's eight Tesla A100 GPUs to render the animation :)
