I just thought I’d share this quick video showing how I prepare pics before I make a start on drawing them. This one is a bit different as it’s going to be a dramatic white on black piece. It’s from a photo with permission from daydream art and photography. She gave me the raw file and I’ve just used photoshop to create the black background and dramatic contrast. This is how I used to u...

I've updated my core pencil list - a list of pencils I use on a regular basis.
I'm working with a coloured pencil distributor to create sets of pencils for specific animal fur/hair colours which hopefully will be available to buy later this year, and of course the info will be free for you guys :)
I've included some of the newer lightfast - but not the ones in the final 28 as ...

I'd like to start publishing a newsletter, every quarter to start with, and then maybe a little more often depending on how it goes. I'd really like all the tiers to have involvement, so submitting some of your imagery for the gallery page or some tips etc would be fabulous.
I'm opening up a few slots in the Newsletter for people on the Proficiency and Persistence tiers to either wr...

I'm having my website updated including the Patreon link page. In the mean time I'm saving an excel file attached below with all the video links for you, so you can copy and paste, or just click. You'll need to be signed into patreon and will only be able to access the videos on your tier, but hopefully it will tide us over until my website is all up to date :)
I've added some other...

Actually it's 40 minutes of a great technique you might want to try out.
Caroline came to one of my workshops, and we got chatting as she wants to start doing workshops and creating videos. She doesn't have any of the equipment for videoing and didn't know where to start.
So I invited her to my studio, to use all my equipment and create a video. And in return I get to share th...

So I thought I'd just post some of the tutorials that will be winging their way to Patreon over the next few months and into 2020. I'm very lucky to have had permission to use some fantastic photos from Daydream Equine Art and Photography and Elisabeth Erga. The Drum horse Perseus I've been given exclusivity for for my US workshops and then for Patreon so I'm extremely happy about that! The oth...

I have the other metal and leather one which is detailed. But this one I might just add in as a quick white on black on mount board or black black paper. What do you think?

I'm incredibly giddy that the wonderful Dolly Daydream Photography is giving me permission to use some of her fantastic photos to create originals and tutorials from.
I'm looking specifically for my workshop tour of the US next year, and thought one of the Queen's Guards horses might be quite nice. I adore this one - I think he's a drum horse, but I don't know if this might be something t...

This is the first part of Bernard. I've tackled this piece a bit differently to how I usually work as it was created for a workshop and I wanted something that people could do quite quickly.
You'll learn some different techniques in this tutorial, adding the texture first and then glazing over with colour.
You'll find you need to be a little looser when working on this one as well.<...

I’m sharing the first layers and the finished piece so if you’re wanting to create shiny short fur this is a really fab one to do. Also if you’re not comfortable with layering then this again is a fab tutorial as it g...
