2023-10-18 18:49:06 +0000 UTCI LOVE this movie! This was the first time that Sir Peej had a proper budget and he used it to make another of his trademark horror comedies. You are correct about biosecurity being taken very seriously in NZ. At airports I have had to walk down a trench to disinfect my boots and even at the entrance to many national parks you have to do the same. The explorer who captured the Ratmonkey on Skull Island (yes, the home of Kong,) was played by Bill Ralston, the future head of news at TVNZ. The radio play in the Background when Lionel pushed his mother and Nurse McTavish into the cellar was traditional English comfort show "The Archers" The greaser who was grabbed by the crotch was later one of the Dwarves in "The Hobbit" and Lionel's mum was Lobelia Sackville-Baggins in the extended version of "Fellowship of the Ring." (A fun game is watching the credits of these splatter movies and seeing how many people who worked on them went on to win Oscars for "LOTR".)

2023-10-18 13:02:22 +0000 UTCLoved this when I was younger, so weird and the Lawnmover scene is just a classic. This and he did another called Bad Taste if you saw them it would have never occurred to you that Jackson would go on to win an Oscar for LOTR trilogy.
