Part 2

Lately, while restructuring this space, I've been going through a lot of my older shoots. It’s strange how perception changes over time.

The ones I used to dislike — now they inspire something close to admiration. And the ones I once thought were masterpieces… now feel empty, almost soulless. But not a single shoot feels like a waste. I don’t regret any of them.

The ones I used to hate the most were the ones I did at home. Something always got in the frame, the light wasn’t right, the interior felt wrong — too old, too new, too something. I always dreamed of studios, but they were too expensive... "too " was chazing me 😁 . It was cheaper to book an Airbnb or a place on Booking for a night and do 2 or 3 shoots there, rather than rushing through a one-hour studio rental (where you can barely do anything in that hour anyway).

Now I look back at those apartment shoots — and I miss them.
I miss places with history.
I miss the limitations, the need to find light or wait for it.
I miss drinking tea with my muse, talking about life, not turning the shoot into a race but into something slower, softer, deeper.

Once I return to Europe and Kyiv — and find my muses — I want to feel that again.

With self-portraits, it was always different. The space didn’t matter as much. But I got so tired of digital. For the past six months, I’ve been focusing more on film. The ideal framing, light, and poses were replaced by emotion, play, randomness, and film noise. It’s completely different — and it makes shooting easier for me. Analog photography has become a game. And digital photography… a secondary focus.

Digital has always given me that meditative, introspective state — a kind of Zen.
With film, I’ve lost that. And now I realize — I need to learn how to balance both parts of myself again.
