Solid, heavy diabolo slug tests

We've wanted to see how stable solid diabolo slugs are and a viewer was kind enough to send us some.    Weighing at almost 40 grams,   they performed quite well.

I don't have cronos camera but I'm lucky enough to be able to shoot in my front yard. I love duplicating some of the weird stuff you guys shoot in my shop and trying them out on my own targets. A lot of my targets detonate on impact from experimental binary mixes so the damage isn't always just from the slugs. If you guys want some of my mixes let me know and I will figure out how to safely send them to you. Yes they work with slugs, a lot of them will work with as slow as 380acp from a mouse gun. I've always wanted to see binary targets in super slo-mo.

There's a button directly below any of their videos on YT.

I just ditched patreon, how do I become a channel member?

Paul Cassady

Yeah, that is what I was thinking too, the air has to go somewhere. I'll have to tinker more with the shadow stuff. The camera resolution is pretty low at 21K FPS but it's still interesting.

We live in a pretty rural, heavily ag area of CA.

thanks~!

I found those wads at a local gun shop. They are the right dimensions for the homemade slugs people send us. I bought a bag of 500 of them and they have worked ok on lighter slugs.

I did address the membership thing a while back tried to encourage people to use Patreon which has more bang for the buck, plus one can donate just a buck instead of $5 the membership costs. I didn't even know I had any YT members until I was poking around in analytics the other day and saw I had a handful of members , so I just wanted to acknowledge them too . YT doesn't give us a notification when someone becomes a member.

Interesting, have you used those yellow/green cups before? They seem to be very flimsy. Would be good to see this again with different gas seals. Great video again guys.

Another great video, keep up the good work and best of luck in the new year!

Shadowgraph fun! That's some cool stuff, right there. So, conclusions? The comparatively heavier mass of these slugs wishing to remain at rest was enough for the lit charge to blow past the gas seal? By the way, I recall someone at one of my favorite channels (read: those few I support with Patreon) telling us not to click on that "membership" button on the YT page, I think because a smaller percentage of the $$$ actually got to the content creators? Maybe they just didn't want YT to get a cut, I dunno… I just remember reading that they didn't want us to click it. Sound familiar?

In the voice of OG: Trans-sonic envelope, sounds like the name of a gender fluid punk band specializing in nondenominational holiday themed recordings.

Shadow puppetry for science! I enjoyed the shadowgraph segment, very interesting.

I've figured out why I like you guys so much... because rural midwest Ohio hippie and California conservative are pretty much the same attitude!

Hey Jeff I loved the improvised shadowgraph shot. Especially the first one. It took me by suprise and I love that you’re always trying new stuff. It seemed like there was a tiny puff before the rest of the gas made it to the muzzle. I was thinking maybe this was a pressure wave of the air in front of the slug being compressed and forced out by the slug behind it. It seemed to exit the muzzle “relatively” sooner than the rest of the gas. What do you think? Really like the video!
