Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Dev Log #132

Heya, everyone! How are we all doing today?

It's almost the end of November already, goodness me! When did that happen? Is everyone looking forward to Christmas, and have you already got your shopping done? (Because gosh knows I haven't, haha.)

As I've hunkered down in the development bunker and been hammering away at the script as always, the days have really escaped me as I continue to make progress on things. My main focus has been attempting to wrap up a number of scenes that were started partially beforehand put but on hold because the inspiration just wasn't feeling me at the time so left to work on other parts of the script. But now I've returned--stronger than ever (maybe)--and have been bringing new scenes to life with both old and new characters alike!

For this upcoming update my plan is try and bring a nice balance of things for old fan favorites, and the new characters too (who I guess at this point I kind of old, too, haha.) And I've also had a lot of fun writing some non-lewd events that happen between the most unlikely of characters who you might never expect to bump into one another.

If all goes well, there should hopefully be some slimey fun, some fun at the ocean...some scrappy fun, and then a scene that might feel a bit strange for some, but after I've had the chance to listen to the voiced lines of it, I think people will really enjoy it and be entertained by both the absurdity of it, and the erotic nature! My goal is to also have most of the scenes fully voiced right off the bat without having to add in the voice lines in a later update like I've had to do with some scenes due to VAs potentially being busy at the time. And doing it this way requires a lot of prior planning beforehand, along with almost instantly shipping off the script to the VA the moment it's complete before the rest of the writing for the update is done. Which in turn ends up with a lot of back and forth between the main script, exporting things to googledocs to add vocal directions, and so on. It can be a bit of a mad scramble, but apparently I work best under pressure, so I don't mind it too much, haha.

I'm also slowly setting the scene for one of the biggest story events to come. Which won't be featured in this upcoming update, but most of the foundation will be ready for it. It's like THE event for Chapter Two--the exciting climax of this chapter that I've had in mind ever since I first made Chapter One. Everything will have been building towards this big moment--so I'm wanting to do everything I can to ensure it feels suitably 'epic' enough. I know that plenty of people don't come to these kinds of erotic games for 'epic' storylines perhaps and that the sex is most important--but I really do want there to be an enjoyable fantasy story alongside all the smut, which I also work very hard to make just as fun. I don't want either side to suffer or feel lacking/rushed--which has put me in the 'perfectionist' set of mind that can be so deadly to creators. Simply settling for 'good enough' would kill me after coming this far, I think. So, it's going to be a crazy hectic push after this next update, but I really want to try and get the main storyline finished after. Which will be a good chunk of Chapter Two completed at that point--and then after that it's simply filling in the gaps for the silly amount of side content that can be done.

I've almost hit 500,000 words, which is kind of insane. And I feel like I'll probably hit something much higher than that (hopefully not TOO much higher haha) when Chapter 2 is ready to ship. Once again, I thank you all for giving me this chance to create something truly special. I think I've learned a lot on this path--and will be taking this all to heart for Chapter 3 in a new development style that will suit everyone much better.
