Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Dev Log #143

Heya, heya, heya!

How is everyone doing today? I'm back with another dev log--and I have something special this week! Because it's been a while since I've put up a sample of the wonderful voice acting that goes into the game, so figured I'd showcase one of the most recent scenes that's come together!

This particular voice sample features the super talented SilkyMilk, voicing Bella, the haughty alraune! It's been quite a while since I've wrote anything for Bella, so it's been a lot of fun to return to character, and hear her lines come to life once more~

And this scene is the beginning of her second cg scene--which isn't necessarily a 'h'-scene, but still quite steamy in its own right. I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this though. Chu~

Writing Bella's more intimate scenes as she warms up to you was actually quite a challenge--as I didn't want her to suddenly become too mushy. But at the same time, the strict, cruel nature she had before needed to at least shift aside a little. So, as you can tell from the sample above, I kind of found a middle-ground that stays true to her haughty character! (And at the same made the squirrels that worship her canon, haha)

So, she admits if she drives everyone away with her cruelty (or outright kills them) she'll eventually have nobody left to worship her. And being as vain as she is--practically the complete opposite of Queen Deidra--she realises she has to at least show SOME amount of compassion to those she deems worthy. And, as luck would have it, she does indeed find young Matt to be worthy of her affection! Who would have thunk it? It probably doesn't need to be said what happens after--but rest assured, he'll be coming out of this with quite a few lovebites!

While there's some gaps in this exchange, for added context, this all stems from Matt working up the courage to tell her that if she was a bit nicer to those she met, she wouldn't be as lonely. And that almost earned him several thorny lashings there and then, before Bella ultimately agreed. This ties into sometimes the small, subtle ways that Matt can win over people to his side--even if he isn't fully aware of it. Because while he's ultimately passive in the cg scenes themselves, and isn't a man of TOO many words, he does somehow having the amazing ability to say the right things. I guess he rolled out max charisma AND luck, huh? What a guy!

I hope you enjoy this little sample of what's to come in the next alpha build--and I apologise if I haven't been able to show off too many visual things in recent dev logs. As the closer I get to finishing the game--and the more I've already shown off--it gets increasingly hard to both show off things to keep interest, AND avoid spoiling all the fun stuff that awaits you! Because, gosh, I want there to be at least a few surprises that you didn't see coming!
