Bonus Art - Mermaid Concert

Heya, all! Happy MerMay! For this month's bonus art, I'm happy to showcase an amazing piece featuring your favourite(?) mermaid, Marine performing her hit new single, 'Drown 'em all'!

For the longest time, Marine's spiky hair and equally abrasive attitude reminded me of a punk rocker, so I'd always wanted to have an art piece featuring her in a punk top with a guitar or something--but keeping it relatively simply and constrained to just her top half.

But when I told the artist Mogucho about the idea, they got really inspired and wanted to take it one step beyond, and so a full blown concert was made for the attention-seeking fish! Which I think suits her well, being thrust into the spotlight and all!

The punk outfit also evolved, and she became a kind of rocker/idol hybrid, of which I'm certainly not going to complain about! It was a fun excuse to break out the glowsticks for the crowd there as they cheer on their precious Marine!

There was also the logistics of the concert itself to consider--and yes this was quite an involved discussion, haha--where we decided where to host the show itself. Underwater would be quite limiting, but at the same time, she might be uncomfortable for long amounts of time on land, especially under the light, so we settled for a kind of water bubble for an extra flashy flair! I'm sure she won't, uh...drag any fans into that bubble with her. Probably. Well, that's probably what they want, anyway!

Finally--you may notice a certain somebody off to the side on the keyboard--but seeing as they're not the star of the group, their presence has been minimised. I wonder who it could be?

I hope you all enjoy this piece--as it was a lot of fun to plan and see come to life, and I'm super happy with all the detail and love that's went into! I know for sure I'm going to have this on rotation in my desktop wallpaper settings~ And as a reminder, those that pledge $15 or more at the end of the month will get the full resolution version of this piece!
