Pause ⏸️

I decided it’s time to put my Patreon on pause until I can get caught up on things. I’ve been having what I suspect are executive function issues, where it’s been really hard to motivate myself to do things. Right now no one’s mental health is in top shape, and I want to think of this as being responsible to myself and to you all rather than pure laziness or giving up.

Although the majority of my friends and family are vaccinated, it’s still been really hard to get back into socializing. People are understandably a little reticent, and I think we’re all a little out of practice, plus there’s the whole Delta Variant thing that may push re-opening plans back even further. I have a close friend who works at Stanford (and thus is extremely well-informed about COVID-19), and he’s of the opinion that the more responsible businesses’ plans to fully reopen in August or September aren’t going to happen at the rate things are going. I want things to go back to normal of course, but since I have immunosuppressants among my regular medications, I need to be a little more careful. On the other hand what I really need to do is look for a better job, especially since I realized I could use more money to help take care of my aging parents, though that whole executive function thing makes doing a job search (something I find stressful in the best of times) feel impossible.

When I’m not just feeling exhausted or depressed, I’ve been doing a lot of stuff that I can do by myself, notably 3D printing, building little keyboards, and starting a project to watch my way through the great classic films (I bought a copy of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die). And spending way too much time on Twitter. Really I need to see a therapist and/or adjust my meds, but that was also a bit difficult to do even before the pandemic due to them being even busier than other medical specialties.

I’m also sort of working on an isekai novel called “Catgirl in Another World,” which would be the first part of the “Memes of the Prophets” trilogy, a name that is stupid, eye-catching, and very relevant to the story. I really like the ideas I’m coming up with for the story, but less happy with my lack of progress. I also commissioned a 3D model of my OC Kurumi for printing, and as I write this I’m currently trying to figure out the right printer settings, since having a chibi figure makes it top-heavy enough that gravity made my first print attempt fail.

Anyway, I hope you’re all doing well, and I hope we can all get more on top of things in the near future.
