Haha. I know people thought this is about Selena for some unknown reason. But, this song goes with Tis the Damn Season from the man’s perspective. Dorothea moved to LA to chase her dreams and left him behind. But, sometimes thinks she made a mistake. It’s a fictional story like james, Betty, Augustine from folklore. Evermore is the adventurous sister of folklore. There is a theme to both. Folklore is conflict resolution, apologizing, etc. evermore is all the ways relationships are ending, divorce, breakup, death, failed proposal. Evermore also has a theme of ships/water which is mentioned in Several Songs. But evermore is much more diverse and experimental than folklore.
