Welp ... we've stepped back into a big ol' can of worms with this one. A lot of questions about this one, I had a really good time diving into this song. Simple, darkly simple, but also kind of thematically cheerful. A weird song, but a really interesting one. Check out the REDDIT deep dive, there's a lot of people with thoughts on other songs this might be connected to. Fascinating ... hope you enjoy. Happy weekend!

As a bi woman I find a lot of her songs relatable and I think that's because she writes a lot about secrecy, hiding, having to protect her relationships from others. I think a lot of queer people see themselves in these and I totally understand why there are theories Taylor could be bi (and it's great if she is!). Obviously we can't know her sexuality for sure but Taylor has said that she's not part of LGBTQ+ community so I find the speculating pretty unfomcortable personally, I think you should always believe what people say about themselves (and yes, I understand she could be closeted but then she probably doesn't want this constant speculation online)

ok I don't do reddit, ever. I never agree with folks on it. there are tons of folks claiming taylor is a lesbian on there. not one of those comments mentioned what swifties KNOW. I have zero problems with lesbians but this song is not about a woman. it's track #2, the same as the song Red on the album Red. Maroon is a darker shade of red. then she uses all the shades of red to symbolize different feelings. the majority of the album Red is about Jake Gyllenhaal. I'm 99% sure this is about Jake... *the song you started playing in the beginning got me really excited, it sounded like something my dad used to play with his band when I was a kid. then you just stopped so I could be so very wrong lol.
