Overwatch is in the news again, with a loot-flavored event that has made even a lot of the game's defenders raise their eyebrows.
Let's all just admit that no matter how much you might love Blizzard, it's still another fee-to-pay peddler at heart.

Forgot to post this here. Wrote an article about the continued chicanery of Mankind Divided's PR department.
Surprisingly, the comments have been almost entirely civil and level-headed. Only had to nuke the rambling racist essays of like two or ...
2016-08-05 07:43:40 +0000 UTC View PostJust what IS that dirty Moby up to? It's got nothing to do with Mobius Final Fantasy, though that gets a mention too.
Elsewhere, we talk about how Aug lives totally matter, Niantic's lack of communication over Pokemon Go, and other things as well, friend!

Complete nonsense. Absolutely, thorough, infuriating nonsense. That's the best way to describe Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
It's a shorter running time this week because the film has about ten minutes of plot running through 90 minutes of gibberish.
Despite that, this is actually one of our most entertaining episodes. A triumph, considering what we were working with.

You are feeling thirsty. You are feeling hungry. You are feeling tired.
You are bleeding. You are infected. You are dead.
Welcome to survival games - the neediest, clingiest, increasingly dreariest games in town.

A rewritten (remastered!) feature I wrote many years back on Destructoid, I look back at Silent Hill 4 and argue why it's a classic game in spite of its poor reputation.

Sonic the Hedgehog had a great weekend... the same can't be said for anybody watching his 25th anniversary livestream. We talked about that fun little circus.
Also discussed this week - Gavin's mangled music, We Happy Few, the Sega Genesis, and loads of other bollocks.

Discussing emulation as a games pundit can be risky business - it's a taboo subject, and you can't be seen to endorse it even slightly.
However, the existence of emulation ought to be treated more importantly and taken seriously, especially when you consider how devalued a lot of older games can become.
Also this week - highlights from Sonic's 25th anniversary shitshow, and some am...

The gang's back together! Laura returns to discuss Pokemon Go, the NES Mini, and Dead Rising.
Also, we talk about pain. So much pain. All of the pain that we have.

Your Movie Boys take their first trip to the Town That Takes, discussing the sexiness of Pyramid Head, the stupidity of our protagonist, and the problems with casting an uncreepy child as a creepy child.
Pokemon Go is a mundane game and a poorly made, unfinished app. It may very well be the best Pokemon game ever made, too.
Kind of. Sort of. A bit.
Either way, I can't get over my fascination with the thing's bizarre creative success.

Laura's still on a break, which means Jim gets to teach Gavin all about Pokemon Go! But first, Gav needs to learn about Pokemon.
Like... the entire premise of Pokemon.
Elsewhere, we get first Jimpressions of the HTC Vive, there are more YouTuber money shenanigans, and Laura delivers zingers from far away.

A year ago, we talked about how Evolve fell out of the "AAA" Bullshit Tree and hit every branch on the way down.
Turtle Rock's multiplayer game of predator and prey prototyped the current trend of unfinished games that used DLC like crutches, and suffered as a result.
Now it's back, completely free, and redesigned as Evolve Stage 2.
And that's... interesting.

On this week's show, we're joined by LEGENDARY podcast boy Justin McElroy to discuss - what else? - that whole CSGO gambling stuff.
We have other stuff, too! Boglinwatch 2016 changes forever, we talk a little more about Playdead's Inside, aaaand Jim basically fawns over Justin a lot.
What a great boy!

Yeah, I heard about that.

Steam Greenlight was designed to let customers vote on the games that looked most appealing, that they most wanted to buy.
It was a noble idea and an interesting way to allow indie games a chance at recognition.
Unfortunately, the well has been poisoned and the idea perverted to allow all manner of unwanted shite onto Steam. There is one particular vector of infection that must b...
