Rise Kujikawa Cosplans

Now that Ai-kon is out of the way, I can clean my sewing dungeon, finish Perona, and decide on my next project... Planning on bringing at least one Rise Kujikawa outfit to Daishocon in November. I will let tier 2 and above vote for which one they think I should do, but everyone is welcome to comment on this post with their opinions!

Bonus Flareon Edit!

Michael Legge wasn't even a photographer I hired - he wandered up and asked if he could grab a photo, and two days later I got this!

While the background is a bit odd, I do like the water edit. The rocks are mostly real, but I think he spruced them up a bit. Very cool and a great surprise when I got home from the long drive back! :D

Ann Ai-kon Shoots

I had not one, not two, but THREE shoots for Ann this past weekend at Ai-kon! I managed to get photos of casual Ann, DSN Ann (left), and extra Panther. The photographer, Ivan of IVR Photo, gave me these two enormous prints as a wonderful gift. I can't wait to see the rest of the photos!

Flareon Preview (Aikon Day 2)

Aikon Day 1!

Starting with some casual Ann. Will swap into a few Ann-sembles throughout the day. ^^ Added thicker/longer socks for comfort, and I actually like it better with them. Unfortunately my brand new blue contacts did not work out. I got one in, and it looked perfect... but the left one just refused. It kept flipping inside out. :/ Awkward dark blue eyes it is...

Flareon Done! Ish...

We are en route to Aikon in Winnipeg! I should arrive soon. I did some last minute stitching in the van, of course. Here is the axe, which I will do my best to accessorize at the hotel, and my hilarious attempt at Flareon's head floof. And my toes.

Flareon Ears!

I bet you were all wondering if and when I would actually incorporate the ears into my gijinka... Ta-dah! I just need to fix some of the felt pieces that are loose and then add some - you guessed it - fluff to it... I made them a little bigger than I realized- whoops! I imagine they will look better with the wig. I hope... For structure, I bought a small cat ear headband and just wrapped wire ar...

Flareon Bling!

Last night I strung up a necklace for Flareon and fashioned some earrings out of bamboo. (I will use smaller hoops and may make the necklace a little longer or add a second one...) Hoping the bamboo kinda looks vaguely like bone... or cartilage... or something. xD Tonight I hope to finish the belt and get a start on the ears. Awkward leg "armour" to follow. My dad helped me attach and sand down my axe head pieces! It looks great. Just needs painting and decorating. But it is being put aside while I finish up the outfit... My belt/loincloth is almost finished now, too!

Apparently forgot to share my loincloth... thing. Which took for-flipping-ever because sewing bias tape on corners is AWFUL. Just gotta add a flame detail, blood splatters, and filth. Also started skirt fluffs.

Here's a somewhat poorly edited pic of Junko and her sister, Mukuro (disguised as Junko). I wanted to try to make a picture of them together but I made a lot of dumb mistakes when I took the original photos. So now Mukuro (on the left) is backwards. WHOOPS. I still like how it turned out, though. :)

Stitching stretchy fabrics...

I tried out a zigzag stitch to hem my stretchy skirt material. I think it gives a nice old-timey effect (where it didn't go rogue), but now the very bottom of the skirt kinda puckers out a bit. I guess I should have tested the tension of my sewing machine first. 🤔 Still, it was good to try it out and now my skirt actually stretches with my legs when I walk. Time to add fluffs!

Flareon WIP

Progress from last night. Bra is done except for perhaps a gem similar to a fire stone in the middle. Gauntlets done unless I have time to add flame details. Also tangled myself in my orange fabric again to give the illusion of belt/loincloth thing. I should make it next... and actually finish skirt... Considering wrapping a dirty and "bloody" bandage around my upper arm. Leg armour, one pauld...

Batman Durag COMPLETE

Oh God. I actually did it. And it turned out REALLY nice. My machine cooperated and all the shaped worked out somehow. I do well under pressure. xDIt is unfair that my costumes don't turn out this neatly. 😭 I just gotta trim some loose threads and apply a polish to the eye holes to prevent fraying.I will post myself wearing it later. It never looks like much changes... The gauntlets are almost done and I stitched the trim on the collar down neatly so it is ready to go on the bra now! :) I am considering 3D printing my axe head to save time. Unfortunately, I have to put Flareon aside for a moment. I will explain in my next post...

My headphones have shipped and I acquired red clip in hair extensions for her streaks. I think I have everything I need to wear her to the rave at Aikon... Just gotta paint stuff on her hat and shoes. And probably shorten that skirt. 😋

Gauntlets progress! A faux leather exterior with a braid effect, felt lining, cotton bias tape trim, and more fluffs~ I am running out of yarn, guys. 😅 Time willing, I will add flame details in orange over the black. Now... to decide on velcro or snap closure...

Flareon Fluff Army

I wasn't slacking at my friends' cottages... I used up the rest of my yarn to make 96 more bundles to be fluffed! Fluffing them will take so long... but that's what my lunch breaks at work are for! 😅

Hopefully it will be enough - I used more on the collar than expected.
