Mental Organization

I just ran across this old sketch and it's COMPLETE CHAOS... but at the same time, I guess that's kind of the point 😂

Journal Prompt: Behavior Patterns

Most behaviors in my life run on a cycle— engage in behavior, guilt, shame, vowing to change, short-lived success, plummet in motivation, repeat. 🔁

What are some old behavior patterns of your own? Are there any solutions that have worked for you in the past that you might be able to utilize now—even if they aren’t a “forever” fix?

If a drink is even slightly out of my line of sight... it ceases to exist.

Eating Habits (by mood)

🚨 cw: disordered eating 🚨

No matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to ever find a way to consistently feed myself. I’m either going hours and hours with no appetite (thanks, meds) or I’m binge-eating to cope with other negative feelings. Trying to find an in-between is hard.

Books

I’m so ambitious about reading, but when it comes down to it... I just can’t focus on books the way I used to 😞

Staying Afloat

So much of my energy is spent just trying to keep my head above water.

It’s exhausting to be constantly battling an invisible struggle that others can’t see.

Hard to Swallow Pills #3: Work

I spent most of my career feeling like a “bad employee” because my brain worked differently than my coworkers. But that’s not true.

Overthinking Radar

Anxiety is a huge part of ADHD. My brain assumes everything is wrong (or could go wrong) ALL THE TIME. Being on high-alert all the time gets exhausting, but I can’t seem to stop.

Goals Mountain (sketch)

Trying to learn to challenge how I’ve always viewed success/failure, but it’s a hard and slow process. (Here’s a visual of how I looked at it doe the longest time.)

Is This Productivity? (Final)

What You See vs. What I Internalize

You voted, you got it! This table is full of internalized shame from a lifetime of criticism.

Which ones do you recognize from your own life? Did I forget any?

[POLL] What should my next comic be about?

I've got a few different ideas for sketches/comics kickin' around the ol' noggin, so I figured I'd ask y'all what you think! I'll use the order of most popular to decide which should take priority.

(In the meantime, I'm working on finalizing some of my older sketches!)

Task Pileup

Being more prone to distractions and avoidance leads to pileup, frustration, guilt, and overwhelm. I often get “stuck” and constantly feel like I’m behind. When I finally do complete tasks... I feel so ashamed of how long it took that it’s hard to feel proud of myself for the accomplishment.

Bored vs. Not Bored

When I’m not engaged in an activity, time crawls. I can’t stop looking to see when it’ll be over (and I can move on to something else).

But if I’m interested in what I’m doing... I’ll forget to look at the clock for HOURS.

Cooking Flowchart (revised)

Some of the line work was super rasterized (blurry) on my previous version of this comic from moving stuff around— you wouldn’t believe how many hours of re-arranging it took to get this flowchart to ‘flow’ the way I wanted, haha.

The low-quality linework prevented me from wanting to officially post it online since it didn’t feel ‘finished’, so I re-traced over everything th...

Say it with me.

I was flipping through my sketchbook to find a blank page, and stumbled upon these reminders I left for myself months ago. Figured some of you might need to hear them today too 💖

Brain Storage

Staying Afloat

Things aren’t always as “simple” as they seem. Others often can’t see what we’re struggling with under the surface.

“Just Do It”

I could rattle off a list of things I “should” or “need to” do. Doesn’t make it any easier to actually start on them... 🧠🤦🏻‍♀️

This comic was originally a cycle graphic when I sketched it out—which one do you prefer? 🤔

ADHD Stigma: Final infographic

There’s nothing wrong with having ADHD, but society’s misunderstanding of the condition often leads to discrimination, stereotyping, and inner shame. The first step to stopping stigma is informing others of what it looks like; so here’s a handy guide! 💖
