After some internal debate I made Idrisah's hair a tight wavy texture. I had been wanting to change it from stick-straight for a while but had been worried it would be too similar to Gillie's (which is silly in retrospect). I guess the pictures I've drawn of her are retroactively with her hair ironed straight.

More Doodles: Nexus Jovia and Garriton District

Figuring out what Nexus Jovia's actual structure looks like. I was trying to keep to it structurally balanced and feasible while also having undergone naturalistic expansion from a small work outpost to a large city.

Also, my print tech was very generous and let me make these insert pages in between chapters full color. It works great for me, who doesn't want to color the whole comic and loves plate-illustration style inserts in books.

March and April Doodles

Mostly RttS with Skin Deep fanart and a couple Aftergarden dragons thrown in. I'm thinking of making their tail spade a sort of double-sided hooved foot. It can grip either way, which makes it useful for landing out of flight while holding an object with the rear legs, and for tripodal sprinting.

That's the end of chapter 1! Wow! It took me way longer than I wanted but in the end I learned how to effectively shade greyscale, use Blender to model environments, have a workflow that isn't impulse based, and keep an update schedule without dying. I feel like I can make pages much faster and better now than when I started working on finished pages last year in October.
