Subdermal Collisions

First two tests...  1st one was a disaster, but I made some adjustments and it's better in v2.  Not as good as Storm, but it shows promise.  At least this one works.. Storm doesn't (yet).

The next test would involve a character rig/body shape so I will do that after I get Nadia's body done.

Forehead done.  Well, just the foreskin, really.  I need to adjust the eyebrows.  She was borrowing Raina's eyebrows.

EDIT: Eyebrows are done.  I will do a new render when I go to sleep.  Now it's time to work on some physics tests!

Today was a very productive day.  I got all the systems I want working in her mouth rig.  This is likely my most sophisticated mouth rig to date.  I've set up preset sliders... Trick Or Treat

How about treat?  I spent some time tweaking and remodeling her hair.  I added a nice transition between her rear curly hair and the front straight hair.  I rendered this overnight on my slow machine.  I may update this post later after more has rendered.

Porous

I made an all new procedural setup for skin pores (and bumps).  They can be varied in size based on a weight map.  Really complex setup and it takes a long time to render (on the old machine).  But it's only meant to render once to bake out the texture.  I think I need to bring her ears forward a bit before I do that.

Retopology

Hey all... I'm heading out to the grocery store.  Here's a look at the new gal's face being retopologized from the raw sculpt.

Because I took the fans out of my old machine, I am not going to have it do rendering until the new fans arrive on the 27th.

Rendering

I estimated this new machine is roughly twice as fast as my old machine.  I moved the project to the new machine and began rendering.

The first frame took exactly two minutes to render on the new machine.

I then rendered the same frame on my old machine.  It took 6 minutes and 59 seconds.

So my more educated estimate is this new machine is just a hair below 3.5 times...

New Computer Alive

Hey!

Raina's shirt sim is progressing...  The torso area is complete.  The sleeves are simming now.

I am done with assembling MOST of the new computer.  I was so pleased when it stirred to life I made this video to show you all.

Raina Update

Hey all.. Small update today.  Raina's hair is all done.  And after taking all day to set it up, I just hit the sim button on her shirt.

Good (Hair) News and Mediocre (Hair) News

Hey all!

The good news is the Storm sim worked as well as I had hoped.  It's a tad floaty, but the self-collisions and volume preservation is perfect and much improved over any hair sims I've done in the past.  See the attached preview.

Bug Report

Okay we've discovered that this wonderful new tool is quite delicate.  If the model is scaled it breaks the tool.  If the start frame is not 0 it breaks the tool.  If the resolution is changed it breaks the tool.  I've sent an email to the developer and hopefully he can fix it and send me a Storm update.  He's done so in the past fairly quickly.  Fingers crossed! (Potentially) Great News!

Another Storm user (not the developer) told me he discovered the problem I was having.  This new feature that makes all of this possible has a bug.  If you use the rescale feature with it, it breaks it.  If that is true this will be very easy to work around.  Joy!  Gotta take care of some dirty, dirty dishes then I will give it a go!
