Hey all! I'm finalizing Raina's geometry. She -looks- finished at this point but there are two more body parts I need to animate flexes for.. Pecs and glutes. And this will be the first animation I've done glute flexing in. I need to sculpt a flexed shape for those. She's coming along. More to come!
2021-09-23 10:19:38 +0000 UTC View PostI've set up Raina's hair to work with Storm in addition to my old cloth simmer. This is giving me true self-collisions and volume preservation. The catch with this is they cannot be styled in any way... They just fall like wet noodles. This would not be good for the front of her hair. So I can use Storm for the back hair and my older tool for the front of her hair.

Here's a look at her head fully finalized. I also re-created her eyebrows from scratch. I gave them a bit of a different shape. They will not look so bold when its rendered.

I've just finished two milestones: Camera animation is complete, and Raina's eye animation is complete (not including eyelids). As I progressed I was also fine-tuning her torso and head to make sure she looked squarely at the camera when I wanted her to. She's really starting to look alive now which pleases me. I contacted the voice actor and she recorded a new phrase to replace one of the duplicates at no extra charge. That was VERY sweet of her. :D The new recording's lip sync was also animated today. A few touchups to do on her eyebrows and her eyes are not yet animated but this was a big hurtle. For the next character I make I am going to rig things a bit differently for faster lip sync animation.

For example, when she makes an "s" sound her jaw should fully close.. Phonems like the "f", "v" or "s" do not get captured so well so these will need some manual enhancement. Stuff like that. So I was animating the weight lifting sequence and she was moving so fast with them it gave the impression that these weights were too light. So I stretched out each lift manually. It was a lot of work but the results are a much improved sense of weight. The animation is now 840 frames longer. Darn near 7 minutes long!

Just modeled these new props for Raina's 2nd animation. I had modeled some of these before waaaay back when I did Yumi Plays with Weights, but I think that was before I was archiving all of the project files. Oh well.. These came out looking nicer anyway.

I finally realized it was a new feature added in 2020 that must have turned on without realizing it; Limited bones. Once I turned it off, everything snapped back the way it should be (facepalm).

Well I refunded the voice morphing software.. It didn't do such a good job. Raina's voice actor is unavailable. I think she's in a middle of a move. She hasn't responded to my emails in weeks. I might have to hire another actor for her 2nd animation. :/
