Character Designs - why we had to change them

A big reason why we wanted to change the designs is that Tsun as the main character designer and artist just got better over time as we worked on the game and I'm sure that's clear to everybody in hindsight. But another big reason was that the process we used before to organize, draw, color the sprites was a bit tedious and time consuming. It wasn't flexible and didn't let us make additions or ...

Tsun and I met on Discord, and that's where we do most of the work too. We equally pitch a ton of ideas to each other and just see what works, sometimes it doesn't and then we change stuff around.

For this post we're revealing the long awaited secret character to be added via stretch goals in our original campaign, Random Girl! (yes thats her real name)

Tsun and I iterated a lot on this design and one of the things that particularly gave me problems is her hair ribbons and 'antenna' or ahoge. The most distinct part about her is definitely her expressions, freckles and of course - the striped socks.
