Hi Guys,
In this livestream I will demonstrate how to assemble an SSR2. I'll start with the twist receiver and the other parts that I have released. Remember to join on discord if you'd like to participate in the chat, otherwise there's YouTube.
There will be a part 2 later this month once I have released the rest of the STLs.

Guys, I've been quite unwell for the last week and I've not made the progress I'd hoped. So here's the plan: as promised I'm going to release today the STLs as they are, which includes the finished receiver and top frame.
I will follow up with the chassis and electronics enclosure soon, as well as a wiring diagram and the firmware. In the meantime I'm going to attach some notes so ...

Hi Guys,
This is this month's livestream. As I mentioned a few days ago I have a new machine to show off. This is the Tune in and see me demonstrate the SSR2 prototype. This is my all-new two-axis brushless motor driven stroker.
Livestream is at 2300 BST (1800 EDT) on 20th October. YouTube link is above, but if you'd like to join the chat and interact the Discord server is the place...

Hi guys,
SSR2 Alpha is on the way.
This is a new multi-axis machine that combines up-and-down strokes with twist.
I've been resisting calls for a twist module for SSR1. These can be heavy and awkward, but the main reason is I really don't like the flying leads needed to hook up a twist motor electrically. Historically the leads to the twist servos on the OSR2 and SR6 were alwa...

Hi Guys,
It's now October so as promised here's an exclusive update on SSR2 Alpha. This device will be a 2-axis quiet stroker. It will have a VESA mounting scheme just like OSR2 and SR6 but its movement axes will be stroke and twist. This will be a very unique machine, both in its configuration and its drive mechanism. I have come up with a unique parallel twin-motor system that means the...

Hi Guys.
As I said in my public post, I'm going to do a livestream on heat management in SSR1. I've been doing some experiments and what I've found is very interesting. I'll demonstrate it live.
See you later on YouTube, or better still join us on Discord if you want to join the chat.

Edit: We had some tech issues with the livestream so I've had to edit and re-up...

Hi guys. This month I am doing some long needed research into the issue of motor heating. I am also aiming to get an early, early alpha for my 2-axis brushless device out soon.
Designing SSR1 has been a very interesting experience because whilst the device only has one axis it has exposed me to a whole range of engineering problems that need to be solved, or at least understood. This is ...

Hi guys,
This is, of all things, a ring-shaped shower nozzle with oscillating internal pulses. For fun reasons of course.
Sometimes I have wacky, out-there ideas. In this case what I wanted to was to get a little bit of experience printing using PETG (which is what I recommend you prin...

Hi Guys, it’s time for an update on what I’ve been up to.
My long term goal is very quiet multi-axis stroker devices, driven by brushless motors, and I have been using the summer lull to make some significant progress toward this. In the meantime, incremental improvements to SSR1 is the name of the game for my short term releases.
As you might imagine building a multi-axis devic...

Time for another minor release as I get through the summer silly season and work on interesting stuff in the background
This is an alternate encoder mount for SSR1. I have noticed that it seems to be increasingly difficult to get hold of the form factor of MT6701 encoder that i specify in the build instructions, with a new form factor becoming more available. I have therefore created an e...

This is a minor release as I'm working on some background stuff at the moment, leading up to more substantial releases in the future. This is an updated FeelStroker type receiver for SSR1 Beta that should be a bit stiffer than the previous iteration.
Enjoy!

Hi Guys, it's time for an update.
I have a small hardware release coming, but mostly I'm working on backend stuff and future projects. Plus I've been on my summer holiday.
For my Maker ($8) release I am putting out a new receiver for SSR1 Beta. It's a drop-in replacement for the current one for the FeelStroker case. I already knew theoretically that a cone is stiffer than a cylinder...

This is the hardware release for June: I call it the Ergo Body. I have designed this with handheld use in mind. It's an alternate case base, case cover and fan housing for SSR1 Beta. There are A and B variants of the case cover. All of the other SSR1 parts, assembly procedures, etc are exactly the same.
As with the standard case it uses M3 heat set thread inserts. You will need an extra 2...

Hi guys, it's time for an overdue update on what I'm up to.
Short term I have an alternate case design for the SSR1 on the way, longer term I have a rather unique multi-axis device getting close to a first prototype.
SSR1 Beta was designed to be simple and uncomplicated, a significant improvement on the Alpha design. It's a device that's intended to be used hands free with a mount o...

This is the hardware release for May, in which I have given the SR6 some long overdue love and attention.
I have updated the base and frame to use M3x5.7mm and M4x8.1mm heat-set inserts in place of the M3 and M4 nuts in the original Beta design. I have also updated the lid and arm parts to use M3x12mm countersunk bolts, which I think look much better aesthetically and should be less prone...

Hi Guys,
I want to make my community livestreams a regular thing again, 2-3 times a month. The last one went well, and I was very pleased how the streaming to YouTube made the video immediately available for those of you who couldn't make it.
I would like some feedback however. In the last week since the stream the video has already been viewed 130 or so times, and yet my live audie...

Hi Guys,
I'm going to do another livestream this week. I'm going to start assembling a new SR6, including new parts updated to use heat-set inserts. I thought it would be good to demonstrate installing the inserts, because they're not as scary as they might seem at first.

Hi Guys,
Time for a public update: I am back, SSR1 Beta is a thing, and I'm now working on some longer term projects. In the meantime expect some incremental hardware upgrades.

Hi Guys,
I'm going to have another go at livestreaming to YouTube, as I think I've resolved the technical issues from last time! I've had a significant amount of interest in an introduction to basic CAD skills, so the plan is to do a quick demo of how to use Fusion360, then maybe take a look at some of my designs in CAD if there's time.
