Quick way to check values

One thing I personally always need for bigger pieces is a way to control my values and since it might be useful to others aswell, here is a quick and easy way to check your values while you draw.


This piece is overall still too dark so there is more adjustments that need to be done but I hope this is useful to some of you.

I have never heard of cleaning up my rough sketches before doing "lineart"
Also I spend a ridiculous amount of time on drawing hair every time, it's soothing as hell

This is still super rough and I'm not happy with the anatomy at all yet but this is essentially how I start out paintings.
I scout for pose and color refs and then just doodle a rough thumbnail which I gradually clean up.
