I love the clouds, and all the saturation they bring. Soft beautiful light to play in where every angle creates an incredible photo. Sierhaus and I had been planning this shoot for months, and somehow we got lucky enough to catch one of the last truly cloudy days. The type of weather that I don't even get every year when the camellia is in bloom.

Olivia is one of the most talented photographers I know here in PDX...we really click when it comes to shooting though, so one hot day we decided to head down to the creek and do a little shooting.

Early spring there is a two week window in which the camellia is perfect in all of its full bloom glory...7 days with blooms on the tree, and a few following before every flower begins to bruise, and decay! A life time ago, in a small apartment in Philadelphia I shot a series Journey to The End of The Night...I was young depressed quite obviously derivative of Jan Saudek.

My very good friend Icelandic Selkie was in the states for a couple of weeks, and after years of traveling Iceland with her and Nicole I wanted to show her some of my favorite spots in the United States! I was down in LA for 10 days, so Nicole and I drove up and grabbed her from Berkeley!!

Sorry for the delay with this weeks photo shoot! I ran into an issue, and had to change plans on what I was going to share. Sometimes the cost of creating is that things do not go as planned, and the right thing to do is just let it go and move on.

I get asked all the time what am I thinking, or what is it that I want to do with my photography, and to be honest I'm never really quite sure what somebody is asking of me when that comes up. I'm not really a conceptual photographer. I have for a long time considered myself a portrait photographer, and I'm of the belief that every portrait is telling some sort of story.
