Bringing Gain of Life to iOS
Added 2024-10-20 11:58:24 +0000 UTCApple was sued in the European Union and judged guilty of its AppStore monopoly. Thus, Apple was forced to open its doors to 3rd party publishers.
Unfortunately, Apple was too selfish to open its doors to everyone around the globe and only made third-party app stores possible within the European Union. So, a possible iOS version of the game would only be accessible if you own an Apple device running iOS under European law.
One third-party store is AltStore (https://altstore.io), a platform that empowers everyone to publish their iOS apps. I could publish Gain of Life to the AltStore.
If you're an iOS user under European law, installing AltStore is straightforward (How to install AltStore PAL (EU-only)). You can then use it to install Gain of Life on your device. For non-European users, the process is more complex but still possible (How to install AltStore Classic (works for outside EU)). You will need to verify Gain of Life every 7 days using a desktop computer.
For now, I have not yet spent a lot of time investigating a possible iOS version. There could be certain technical limitations that could conflict with the plans of the image generation engine.
Given the potential to access Gain of Life through AltStore, would you consider installing it on your iOS device?

As an American, you might want to look into AltStore Classic which could still allow you to do this. It requires a bit more technical know-how to set up, though. 2024-10-20 22:02:25 +0000 UTCMy bad, this post indeed is a bit technical. Summarized on a more abstract layer: Apple made it possible to add new app stores, not made by Apple, to iPhones. Before that, you could only install apps through Apple's official AppStore. Now there is AltStore, which is another store for apps, not made by Apple. If you are from Europe you can easily install AltStore through their website. The question is whether people would want to install Gain of Life on their iPhone. If you are not from Europe, this is not relevant to you, because Apple prohibits this for Non-European Apple users. I hope that clarified a bit.
