A Place for Discussions?

Some of the longer time fans may remember the end of Maggie or Cherry Blossoms and the colossal clusterfuck the comment pages were. It was on blogspot back then, and there were too many discussions for it to handle. It dropped comments, etc.

Do we need another location for discussion? There might be a lot to discuss when DITW is done (it's as long as Maggie and Cherry Blossoms combined).

Should I start a Discord or something? Is that a thing authors do? I'm a little on the old side, but I try to keep up. I have a Discord profile. Can I make my own place there?

It might be cool to have discussions for all the other books and series and keep it organized. Plus, it might be a good place for readers from other sources. Right now, Patreon and Radish have the most active discussion. But a single place for arguments and outrage could be good, no?

Let me know what you think in the comments.

I finished book 15, I was pleased with the ending. I was glad it ended. Very well written, easy to follow characters

K T hi I am a new reader, my first book was summer swap. I enjoyed it very much. I have also read the ket party collaboration. I have started the Devil in the waters, I am enjoying it, but I am taking it slow as I have heard it is a dark story. I am liking Kimmy and Josh. I dislike Devin but that shows your good writing. I am currently on Book 11, I know most of the genre doesn’t have HEA, is there a specific reason for that. I realize that once Pandora’s box is open everything changes be the is a happy middle ground. I would love to discuss this book and others Chuck

A strange and welcome Guess Who mention. I've been thinking of them a lot recently. As a wee one, I attended the wedding of one of the band members and have been wondering how the person who married one of them is doing or if they are still alive. I adored them very much. The wedding couple even gave me a gift on their wedding day. Very kind.

Hi, everyone. For those of you from the GWN who left the room every time your parents started talking about the great music of the 60s and 70s, especially The Guess Who, you can now atone for your sins. Burton Cummings, an original member of the band, will be at Washington, DC's Warner Theater on 19th March, playing your favourite hits from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Now, your immigration people may hassle you on the way back in, given the temperature of the times. But the back room at Canadian Immigration is really not that bad, at least in Calgary. {expert traveler tip: don't fill out the French landing card in Alberta}

It’s a great idea to have some form of basic forum. Having just read Separate Schools for the umpteenth time, i was dying to have somewhere to do a thought-dump.

Dan W

Yeah, I hear that!

KT Morrison

I’m 71 can barely remember pass words sounds confusing to me.

Tim ziegler

I didn't realize that. Thanks, Glaucon, I'll check that option out.

KT Morrison

Yes, I like that idea. KT’s fireside chat! 😂

Kat

Also in Discord KT, you can set up a voice channel and do live readings for us! 🤣

I like and use Discord, but it would be more like a big ongoing group chat/text chain than a forum (perhaps a few chats subdivided by category). Actually, there's a community chat feature on Patreon that is a bit like how Discord feels, if you've seen that.

Glaucon

Oh, that's no good. I thought it was more organized, like a forum.

KT Morrison

I agree. But there might be some good value to having permanently accessible threads on specific things that are easier to reference. I love the discussion here on Patreon. But it's exclusive to Patreon subscribers who are on the tier to which the post is intended. But the exclusivity comes with it's own rewards, too. I have some great fans on Radish and Ream as well, and 200 free subscribers on Patreon who don't get to participate. I hate the idea of moderation. I'm not sure what to do.

KT Morrison

Discord would probably make it easier to have a combined discussion, but it's a bit more freeform and sometimes harder to follow if you want to reference what someone else said. IE: you have to keep up with the discussion. Leaving for a day or two can have you coming back to something totally different. That said, it makes it much easier to lose links, memes pics and that sort of thing. Something Patreon is not so well suited for.

L_S87

I have a discord account, I am all for whatever, but I'd be wondering if it makes too much of a difference compared to these Patreon threads.

JamesIsAsleep

My son has a discord with mods, but don’t think we can ask him for help with this. 🤣🤣🤣

Kat

You can just start a chat here on patreon. If you do discord you will need mods to manage it.

Chris K

Yes that would be great. I don't have a Discord account but can get one if that's easier for everyone. Thanks!
