An Update
Added 2025-06-28 15:40:53 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to take a moment to explain my absence these past few weeks and share some exciting news about what’s coming next.
Over time, I’ve realized that releasing chapters in a serial format has shifted my writing style more than I anticipated. A recent review on “Avernus” resonated with me, and I agree with the feedback. So, moving forward, I’ll be shifting to a new approach: I’ll be writing in larger chunks—around 25,000 words—and releasing them as complete episodes instead of smaller, serialized chapters.
Writing serially means never going back and changing something you’ve already written. I’m glad to have been able to do serial writing—it was challenging, and while the work may have been changed, the skills it brought are considerable.
The next big release you'll be getting is the conclusion of "Embracing Ellie," which will be coming your way very soon. But that's not all—behind the scenes, while writing Embracing Ellie, I’ve been bitten once again by that original decade-old writing bug. I'm headfirst into a brand new book that has completely captivated me in a way I haven't felt since writing "Maggie" or "Cherry Blossoms." I wake up thinking about it, I go to sleep thinking about it. I’m already making great progress, past the quarter-way mark, and I have a strong feeling you're going to love it just as much as I do.
It’s a long novel with all the features of my books you like, but this one has so much more. It is the most complex and emotionally challenging story I’ve ever written. It’s a proper thriller, too. I’ll talk more about it after the ending of Ellie comes out. Sometimes saying too much deflates the process.
This doesn’t mean I’m not doing Summer Swap next. I’ll also be working on that, too. I’m hoping reverting back to my more successful writing traits will allow me to sink into a story and worry less about individual chapters. Separate Schools was written once, and then retraced with so much more added to the scenes and the character’s stories, and it was a proud moment for me as a writer.
This new story I'm so excited about will not appear in the stores until it is complete. So while you will be able to read it here in big chunks, it won’t appear in the store until it is a final product.
I hope wherever you are you’re enjoying this fine season and not being eaten alive by mosquitoes like I am.
I appreciate you all so much,
KT

2025-07-03 22:16:23 +0000 UTCI'm happy about that change. Just one chapter at a time is too short for me as a reader. Mostly I started reading them when there were 5-10 new ones available. Or sometimes even the complete book.

2025-06-28 19:03:36 +0000 UTCOne more thing I want to say as a long time fan. I never want my way of reading your stories to ever be a weight on any scale other than being an advocate for wanting you to be the best writer that you can be. If you think this is not going to work for you and need to change it again to something else, I support you there too.

2025-06-28 16:41:12 +0000 UTCReally looking forward to this, KT! I always enjoyed reading your stories in as complete a state as possible. Your writing has so many subtle touches and builds on things in degrees in a way that makes that sort of reading experience so much more rewarding. Funny story – I decided to read Size Sorority that way a little while back, planning to wait until all the chapters were posted before I read the first book. Trouble was, I made the bold assumption that the first book wouldn’t be so short (based purely on KT track record), so it didn’t even occur to me when chapter 7 was posted that that was my cure to read. I was sitting on those chapters for months scratching my head, didn’t figure things out until your post about the book release! PS love love love Size Sorority and especially the Dylan POV, definitely a different angle on these scenarios and I’m so curious where the story might go. PPS Can’t wait to see this new story you’re so engaged with, I'm just here lying in wait to read voraciously!

2025-06-28 16:25:06 +0000 UTCOmg thank you so much for this update, KT! While I may not be the reviewer of Avernus I find that my inability to muster the sort of innate drive to write reviews of a KT story that I once had has been hindered by ADD (not really and sorry to offend if you actually have it) riddled short term memory, preventing me from seeing the full genius that was playing out because of the manner in which stories have been released. The butterflies just weren't there as much as they used to in the days of Maggie, et al. I know you have fans that were better at taking in your piecemeal approach the last few years but I've been terrible at it. It says more about me as a consumer and less about the content in my opinion, but seeing you send this has me so excited. I know that it is excruciating as a lover of your stories in the moment to be without a KT story update but it is sooo fucking worth the wait. Onto the substance of what's to come, very excited by the future prospective stories. Anytime your evoking the names of Maggie and Cherry Blossoms you have my undivided attention. I think it's fair to say now, I'll be on here for the rest of my existence. Or until you start writing about marital monogamous relationships.
