How I like to use the H2H Matchup Planner (user guide)

Just re-sending this post (which I sent out this time last year) for the new people who haven't used this tool before!

--------------------------

Hey everyone,

We're hours away from the start of the NBA season. Now that we're done with the draft tracker, it's time to run through using the next tool worth looking at; the match up planner.

For this to work for ESPN leagues you first need to select your team in the settings page.

You won't need to do this for Yahoo leagues since that information is available when importing your league.

One thing to keep in mind is that this tool does a lot of data processing, so it can sometimes take an extra second to load, but I'm actively working on making speed improvements to it.

When you first go to the matchup planner, it'll look something like this:

But I'll run through each section so you know everything you need to know to get the most out of it.

The key things to look at in the first section (shown below):

Days already played: Tick the days as they've been completed. This tells the tool to ignore the projections for the completed days, and to instead use the data from your Yahoo/ESPN scoreboard matchup. In general, you should always leave Sunday unticked.

Opponent: Select your opponent for the week.

Next up, we have the before / after section.

Before: Scoreboard data since you last updated it using the update scoreboard from Yahoo/ESPN button.

After: The projected scoreboard, which is the current scoreboard + selected projected games.

Win probability: An estimation of your win probability based on the "after" projected outcome (I'm still trying to improve the formula for shooting %s)

Next up, we have a toggle, to toggle between your and your opponent's roster. And a few buttons:

Update scoreboard: This is the button you click to updated the projected "after" score. This is done when you've made changes to which players are and aren't playing (which I'll run through soon).

Update roster data: This refreshes the players on each roster. Keep in mind that this will change selections you've made.

Update scoreboard from Yahoo/ESPN: This will update the "before" scoreboard data. ESPN's scoreboard data feed only updates after games have been played.

Next up, we have the rosters and the ability to add a player from the waiver wire to a roster (both yours and your opponents) to see what kind of impact they'd have on your matchup.

Players who are injured should automatically import with no games played, and you have the freedom to unselect specific players that you think won't be playing, or players you or your opponent aren't able to play on a specific day of the week.

Players you've added to a roster can be removed by clicking the X button:

Another quick reminder that after you've made changes (by unselecting and selecting specific players on specific days) that you'll need to click the update scoreboard data for those changes to impact the "after" projected scoreboard.

Hope you have a great start to the season!

Hey Brad! All of the current season options (full season, last 7, 14, and 30 days) should now be available to choose from.

Whoops.. Really enjoying the site- thank you. I am just wondering if you can add a drop-down menu option for all of the Premium features with "2022-2023 NBA Regular Season (Updated Daily)". Currently, it seems like only "2022-2023 Projections" is an available option..? Loving the "Beast Mode" feature- so helpful.
