The books is even more crazy and disturbing than the movie. Definitely worth the read!

I second the mention of Dolores Claiborne and I need to mention a belief about the sheriff and his main squeeze. I don't think they were on the rocks or in a difficult patch in their relationship. I think that they had been together so long that they just bounce the comments and needling stuff right off each other. I think either would be devastated with the loss of the other being the "old married couple" couple they were.

2025-11-14 00:04:42 +0000 UTCI loved this movie. Just two incredible performances put in the same room, and letting the tension ratchet up. Caan and Bates are just fantastic. King is great at a lot of things, and in particular creating situations that can feel horrifically plausible is one of his talents. A Stephen King kick would be great! I think the best ones for reactions would be 1408, The Green Mile, The Mist and Dr Sleep. They're all top tier.
