Liam vs. Dropbox

I was perplexed over why people couldn't access links today until this email came. Apparently banning links for excessive traffic is a thing. I've had to upgrade to the next level of Dropbox storage (double the price, thanks Dropbox) to try and prevent this happening again in the future.
The Dropbox FAQ says bans normally last 24 hours and that they suggest re-uploading every banned link again to ensure it works, which I hope isn't the case since that's over a year of content and would take weeks.
For the very least it seems nothing will be able to be accessed today and to say I'm annoyed is a slight understatement. Sorry for the inconvenience and we'll have to see exactly what workload is waiting for me tomorrow. Hopefully I'll still have some hair left after I'm done tearing it out.
I'm recording Dollhouse later and will try uploading it and seeing if it works so fingers crossed.

2020-09-14 16:37:33 +0000 UTCUgh, that's idiotic of dropbox. I tried signing up for an account myself in order to download videos to watch offline and it was a nightmare. I really am sorry you are going through this, and I'm happy to buy you a wig if you tear all your hair out! ;P

2020-09-13 19:11:39 +0000 UTCOMG, what? That makes no sense Dropbox! - to have like back dated a ban to every link?? I mean even if it had just been today's uploads that would have been a bummer. But if you do have to reload over a years worth of vids that's bloody horendous! My sympathies Liam :(

2020-09-13 18:59:10 +0000 UTCOkay, I've gone back to September/November last year and clicked on some random links through to today and there's Error 404 messages on all of them. :( I don't think it's very fair of Dropbox either, I mean a lot of us who are watching these reactions are still in a pandemic lockdown situation , more people are using the internet more often, which of course is automatically going to lead to increased bandwidth and potential issues with sites. It took me 5 goes to watch the entire upload of CWDP, and that was after it had been reuploaded to fix glitches, simply because my entire internet kept crashing, because hello Melbourne, and I kept having to restart and rewatch half the upload all over again. And Dropbox is surprised that there's an uptick in traffic under those circumstances? Seriously, I'd have a word with them if I were you, see if you can at least get some of the other links restored so you're not like bombarded with a torrent of re-uploadings.

You're an awesome reactor, and you totally deserve excessive traffic. -.^ Buffy 7x07 is the one I've been very excited to see you get to, so I can imagine you had an "excessive" number of fans eager to see your reaction to it. Well, another day of waiting, but I know it's on the horizon. Thanks again!

2020-09-13 17:32:32 +0000 UTCGoogle Drive got too expensive for me and was very unreliable in processing most of the time. I've considered onehub but either way switching to something else will still mean transferring everything over which will take a long time. It's a tough one

2020-09-13 17:18:10 +0000 UTCI remember the same thing happening to Geeked Out Nation, and he went around it by creating 2-3 additional dropbox accounts, I believe. He uploads a bazillion videos a week, so it was not all that surprising. Anyway, whatever works better for you. Enjoy your Dollhouse! I know I will 😁
