Quick Poll: Discord or Patreon?
Added 2021-08-24 17:13:08 +0000 UTCHi everyone,
I just got two maps finished today and I'm working on the Foundry scenes now. I meant to post these today, but had a little "side-quest" I had to take care of and I'll finish the deliverables tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow I'll release the "Docking Bay Gate 42" and "Diplomatic Office" maps. Screenshot below.
After these, I'll start working tomorrow on a sci-fi heavy metal bar, a small general store, and some new assets.

Discord or Patreon – or Neither?
Talking about WIP pics, I've been posting some updates about these maps on Discord, but from time to time I'm thinking if I should post WIP pics and general updates here on Patreon more often.
What's your take on this?
Would you consider work-in-progress posts or other non-map-release posts spammy? Would you like me to post on Patreon more often about various plans and their progress, etc?
Let me know what you think!
Thanks!

I usually way to busy to spend time trawling through a bunch of Discord channels for relevant news, but it's easy to quickly check the Patreons I care about when I'm downloading maps or otherwise checking email, so more here is better imho.

I have tried to circumvent this issue with the Map Library and tier reward master posts, but this is more like a compromise. I think that the best solution is to: A) Post more often on Patreon (WIP pics, for example) and change the role of Discord a bit. B) Prioritize the new website with browsable map library as high as possible. (I have some news related to this coming soon)

However, I'd be willing to bet the number of subscribers on your Discord doesn't account for all of your subscribers, so limiting updates to that platform essentially "cuts them out of the loop." Plus, prospective subscribers who visit to see whether to invest in your Patreon might take post activity into account when deciding to sign up. Just my thoughts :)
