Next Map Theme Poll

Hi everyone,

As mentioned in my previous update post, in July, we will release more maps for the Luminary-Class Explorer theme and some generic encounter maps. After these, it's time to explore a new theme. In other words, it's time for a new map theme poll! :D

For the next theme, I have collected some recurring suggestions and ideas. Some are something we have already started working on at some point, but we have ended up running out of the most precious and rare resource in the whole universe – time. Let's see if we can revisit some of these themes.

Ferromortis - The Spire City

An enormous city built like a tapering spire reaching for the stars high above the clouds and below the ground deep into the planet's crust. The upper levels surrounding the orbital elevator have clear air and lavish housing, commercial and recreational sectors. Further down the spire, things start to get foggy and crowded. Polluted air clots the air purifiers, and thick smog makes the sun barely visible. In the underground levels are the factories and processing facilities ruled by organized gangs and ancient guilds.

Necromunda and the Warhammer 40K universe heavily inspire this theme.

The Vagabond Fleet

A collection of small and medium space opera spaceship deckplans inspired by Star Wars and Starfinder universes.

This theme would include some popular spaceship designs from the Star Wars universe and recurring or important ships similar to those in some Starfinder Adventure Paths. All ships are original versions of these ships with some artistic freedom and redesign.

If you like spaceship deckplans, this theme is for you.

Ancestor Worlds

The Typho system is located on the edge of the explored space. Local stellar phenomena make navigation to the system difficult, and it has remained untouched for thousands of years until now.

Explorers and prospectors have found many ruins of a lost alien culture on different planets and moons in the system. Also, several habitable planets and moons point to some sort of terraforming – or unbelievable stroke of luck.

This theme would include ancient alien ruins, temples, and such for various biomes or a specific biome. These could be ruins built by the Engineers in the Alien universe, ancient Jedi or Sith, or the Ring-Builders from the Expanse universe.

The maps and props in this theme could include anything from an ancient spaceship wreck in the jungle to a xenomorph-infested sacrificial site.

Corinth Station

Corinth is a space station located in a once resource-rich star system with some strategic signifigance. The station is a gateway between the planet-side extraction sites, refineries, and off-world transports and trade.

Like the Luminary Explorer theme, this theme compasses a single location. It's unrealistic to cover a large space station fully in detail, but we would make a set of maps of some of the most critical sections and areas with a twist.

This space station is inspired by popular sci-fi space stations, from Sevastopol Station to Narendra Station to Absalom Station.

Vote for your favorite by the end of July. The poll winner will be chosen as the next theme starting in August.

Thanks!

- Miska

Comments

Love the vagabond fleet option. I find my group at stations or starports and need multiple simple shops to populate the locale.

Derek LANE

What you are talking about is the same Ferromortis as here, but the assets were left unfinished previously. I do not exactly remember why, but it was not properly communicated by me. I'm going to get those assets done at some point anyways, but let's see if we get to make a full theme out of it.

These all sound really cool, but any timeline or plans for the skull-filled industrial undercity that won the February 6th poll? I have an undead space empire who would love a good home. :) (Maybe I missed an update about it.)
