The two kinds of people - Part 4 [FINAL]

Katsuki woke up warm.

It was a little weird, honestly, considering the heating units in their dorms were shit, and for the past few weeks of wild weather he’d been sleeping with a massive, heavy pile of blankets on top of him which he suddenly wasn’t feeling. He was still wrapped in the ridiculous dinosaur onesie he wore when he needed to use the bathroom or get a drink in the middle of the night, but even that shouldn’t have kept him as warm as he was in that moment.

He cracked his eyes open, finding the room lit by the pale light of morning sun seeping through his curtains. On Sundays he liked to leave his alarm turned off, to take a short sleep in while he had the chance, but it was still pretty rare for him to not wake up with the sunrise; waking to a room already lit was a strange feeling, but maybe it was worth the lost hours if he woke up so much warmer.

He yawned, shifting a hand to rub at his bleary eyes, only to be met with resistance as he moved. Freezing, he blinked hard a few times, his face flooding with warmth when he finally noticed the blue and red patterns pillowing his head. It took every ounce of his courage to raise his head, to look at the peaceful face resting above his own, drooling all over Katsuki’s pillows as he slumbered.

Deku.

His broad body was sprawled across Katsuki’s mattress, a mess of muscular limbs other than onecarefully placed arm, curled tightly around Katsuki’s waist to hold him in place. For a moment Katsuki considered running, yanking himself out of the grip and disappearing, maybe avoiding Deku for the rest of his life. There was something so comfortable about his spot, though; the shared body heat, the strong arm protecting him, even the sweet scent of Deku’s soap. In a moment of weakness, he dropped his head back to the crook of Deku’s neck, snuggling in to snooze a little bit longer.

He knew the instant Deku woke up, felt the little shift in his muscles and heard the change in the pace of his breathing. But when he thought Deku would roll away, would climb out of bed and start his day, instead the arm pulled him in a little closer. A wide hand slid down his back, loosening one of his dinosaur spikes from beneath him where it was beginning to dig into his side, then traced back up again to shift his head. Instead of shifting it away, though, Deku used the gentlest touch in the world to slide the corner of the pillow beneath him, to prop his neck on a much more comfortable angle before he snuggled back in, resting his cheek on Katsuki’s hair.

“Deku?” he asked quietly, before he could chicken out.

“Oh, good morning Kacchan. Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.”

“Shut up,” Katsuki grumbled, pressing his forehead into Deku’s shoulder stubbornly. “I... Ugh.”

“It’s okay, Kacchan,” Deku said softly, a hint of a smile in his tone even though Katsuki couldn’t see it. “You don’t have to say it.”

“Shut up, I don’t do shit I don’t want to,” Katsuki huffed, his cheeks flaming. “It’s just stupid.”

“Why?”

“Because feelings suck,” he grumbled, softening a little when Deku laughed at him. “I just... Like you. A lot.”

“I like you too, Kacchan.”

“Not like... Friends. I mean... Love. I uh, I love you. I think.”

“I knew what you meant,” Deku smiled. “I love you too, Kacchan.”

“Really?”

“How could I not? You’re my Kacchan.”

“Yeah,” Katsuki smiled, more genuine than he thought he ever had. “I’ll be yours.”

“I wasn’t asking,” Deku teased. “You’re stuck with me.”

“There are worse people to be stuck with.”

He finally lifted his head, amused to find tears pouring down Deku’s face despite his smile, eyes shining as they looked down at him with more warmth and affection than Katsuki had ever seen in his life.

Katsuki rolled over stubbornly, hiding the blush that had overcome him entirely, but Deku just laughed and pulled him back in, his back flush with Deku’s chest.

“Where’s my dinosaur? Give him back,” Katsuki demanded. “You took his spot.”

Deku humoured him, fishing over the edge of the bed to grab it, and Katsuki wrapped his arms around the squishy plushie, feeling extra warm sandwiched between his Deku and his Dino.

“What did you name him?” Deku asked, combing his fingers through Katsuki’s hair and making him shiver. “Dino-Might?”

Katsuki snorted, shaking his head faintly when Deku laughed at his own joke.

“Little Bitch.”

“Was my joke that bad?”

“It’s his name,” Katsuki clarified, resting his cheek on a fluffy face. “Little Bitch.”

“That’s not very nice!”

“I named him after the person who gave him to me.”

“Rude,” Deku complained, laughing all the same. “He deserves better.”

“The person who gave him to me?”

“The dinosaur.

“So I can still be a jerk to you?”

“Like I could stop you,” Deku snorted. “I’m used to it.”

Katsuki huffed, but didn’t bother to object, settling for leaning back into Deku’s touch instead. The arm fell back around his waist, hugging him and Little Bitch both, and Deku sighed fondly as he leaned his head on Katsuki’s once more.

“Gonna snooze a little longer,” he said firmly, closing his eyes. “Goodnight again Kacchan!”

“Night Big Bitch.”
