I also see a world in which mind goblin style edits are made easier to look at with a pre meditated, cinematic spot.

I feel that a trick on a fake spot, made to be fake - to look nice is completely ok and can be respected the same amount as a street clip of similar caliber. The fact that Berra didn't disclose his intentions is what makes the calculatedness of the part uncomfortable. I would honestly enjoy to see more skaters skating pretty to look diy style spots, if it means more footage and more complex tricks like Daewons.

fantastic review. Glad to here what Ted had to say, and what you had to say with Teds perspective in mind.

Idk but I feel like he could have done all this on street spots in a year. But you can’t deny his skating is clean.

I’d like to point out that he made a fake bump to rail (which probably took a few hours) so he could do a boardslide and a front tail.

I wrote this before I watched the video just based off having seen the section already, didn’t realise you’d already made these points haha

I’d much rather see a sketchy spot made out of crates and pallets than basically a fully professionally made skatepark for the sake of one line that could have easily been done anywhere else, the spots he made were just basic obstacles that exist all over the place already, it would have been sick to see some really crazy and unique things built for the part.

For more diy manny pads plz refer to a bunch of footage in yeah right…but those were often at random abandoned warehouses etc

does he get extra credit if he actually built the spots himself?

What kind of long work day does 2006 Steve Berra have? I guess building the spots to skate at 3 am is a lot of work.

I think it would’ve been interesting if he showed footage of him and his team building some of these spots at the end of the video. Viewers who spotted the fake spots would probs see this as Berra being transparent/not trying to deceive them; While viewers who didn’t spot them would probs be like “ah you got me, Berra! You cheeky bastard, you.”

Great content as usual, the perspective from ted is important although Berra is still wack 🤣
Really appreciative of this 🙏🏻

40:20 very true. Gershon Mosley was a pizza delivery man in my small suburban town outside of Kansas City. This was while I was in high school 5 years ago.

I like how you can hear the wood and metal on the cement bump to bar loading dock spot.

Haven’t watched the whole thing yet. But for the milk crate manual pad I personally don’t see an issue because imo it’s a find random shit diy. Its probably because my group of friends would do the same and I’m sure some folks out there did it as well. Just out there creating shit found in the streets or ditch, etc. It’s mainly the coping on brick ledges and getting a rail professionally welded to be disguised as a real street spot is what is whack to me.

I do appreciate Berra's boldness in trying something new by building spots. However, I can't get over the fact that he's a narcissistic egomaniac, a scientologist, and is greedily exploiting skateboarding for every dollar he can squeeze.

As much as I think Berra is wacko we do need to acknowledge that without The Berrics we never would have gotten Skate Jail.

The super detailed artificial spots, his brief moment in acting/film, the berrics/corporate partnerships and sponsorships. This part is actually just a scripted and budgeted Hollywood movie lol. Not that sick. I appreciated this discussion fasho.
