Wasn't the dark timline daydream Abeds? Thats have I read the situation at least.

While i will admit this season isn't the worst thing in the world, i never liked it. it reminds me of when i started reading Farscape comics. All the words felt like something the characters would or have said but it felt like whoever wrote it didn't really have a grasp of the characters. Thats what this season felt like. I know most people only need a comedy to be funny but the thing i liked about (Rick and Morty as well) is that it can be talked about in a much more real manner and season 4 ignores a lot of that and seems more interested in the joke. Abed is a great character and a better representation of someone on the spectrum than we usually get in fiction. He uses TV and movies to understand the world and emotionally deal with it. So why did Troy use a movie trope to break up with Britta? Why did Jeff have an overly detailed and weird dark timeline daydream? these are both firmly part of the Abed character and the way he sees the world, but that doesn't work for the joke. I just wish it didn't keep pulling me out of the show with things like that.

I loved it. I didnt know any better since I watched this on Netflix years after it was cancelled

I'm like most others where I wouldn't say the season was "bad" but I can for sure say that I remembered almost nothing about every episode of this season. On the other hand, I remembered a ton of stuff from S1-3 and a lot of stuff that hasn't happened yet, which must be in S5-6. So I guess it was entertaining to me, just not memorable.

This is my least favourite episode of the season but overall I think this is a really good season. It might even be my favourite. It's definitely got some of my favourite episodes in it. People just hated it because Dan Harmon was kicked off but it made no actual difference as far as I can see. Whenever someone says it "feels" different I genuinely have no fucking clue what they're talking about.

Season 4 is way better than people made out. People liked to hate at the time and everyone jumped on the bandwagon without actually watching it all.

Season 4 was never as bad as some made it out to be, but it was undeniably different. It had some great moments, but it also had a lot of continuity errors. Some characters advanced in interesting ways (like Shirley), others seemed to take a step back (Annie). It was really hit or miss, but mostly it was slightly off. Even the way it was shot was slightly different, which was off-putting to a lot of people.

Knowing that you’re all watching Breaking Bad makes me excited see your reaction for what in store for Greendale in Season 5!

The only gripe I have with season 4 is that harmon’s Original vision was 4 seasons and because of things out of his control when he came back he could never end it like he wanted so I hold that against season 4 as fandom was never the same after season 3

this season wasnt awful, it just wasnt community. The season felt like someone took this show and tried to make it a normal sitcom and give it normal sitcom tropes, like in the first half season one, just without the help of dan harmon. The thing about community is how it isnt a normal sitcom, and it flaunts that proudly. It knows how weird it is, how every episode is a genre episode.

All the concepts just feel weaker. The characters also become parodies of themselves and fall into catchphrases with no sense of irony. When Harmon comes back the show becomes much darker but regains it’s edge and the characters start to grow again

The main gripe i had with this season was that a lot of Dan Harmons ideas for future season were used, however they were twisted and changed and made worse, for example the episode with Jeff's dad, Dan wanted to use Bill Murry, which would of been amazing, the episode where Abed goes to the inspector space time convention, was gonna be played by Richard Ayoade of the IT Crowd. This season just ruins so much of what he had set up like the Britta and Troy relationship it feels like a bad parody of the show and the writers just didn't understand the characters.
