We’ll start, of course, with Pride:
The sin that tempted Morning Star
who sat at Father’s side.
Here comes Envy, tried and true,
a sin that can’t be beat!
A pair of well off loafers covet
each the other’s seat.
Gluttony (ah gluttony!),
I know you like my hand.
To eat and eat and eat and eat
is oft my weekend plan.
Wrath is quite the sin, you see,
It bursts forth from the righteous
who see their sin a means to ends
thus birth foes in their likeness.
I myself am prone to Sloth
I always make the time
to rest, relax, delay, distract,
and waste away my prime.
Lust indeed is flavorful
It’s Satan’s favorite dish.
Like Tantalus, passion's reprieve
evades one's thirsty lips.
One might forgive the Greedy
for we all know some of want.
Yet Greed is Pride and Lust combined,
it's Envy's confidant.
So there they are! The Seven Sins
of Christian God's acclaim!
