Random Lore The Goblins Pt. 1

The former emerald elves that conquered the world for a thousand years. They were disfigured and changed, the once prosperous Emerald Empire had fallen. No one knows what toppled the Emerald Empire but everyone has seen the result. The mighty greater elves have become but a shadow of their former selves. Long lost are the days in which the most beautiful of mortal creation ruled.

After the fall of the Emerald Empire the elves were sent into chaos, new kingdoms formed, new alliances forged and new order found. However, those with the emerald skin were changed by the calamity, made short in stature and warped in personality. While their women retained their beauty however their standards for what was considered handsome shifted. In time women would only find mates with the most unattractive of their species. Generation after generation the males grew uglier and uglier as beauty was bred out.

Goblin Anatomy & Morphology







Goblins are humanoids that are typically shorter than that of an average human. On average males are 4’10 (147.32 cm) and females 4’5”(134.62cm). Their skin tones range from black and grays to shades of green and even yellow depending on which clan they hail from. Typically they have black or brunette hair color amongst all clans.

The most common goblin clan lineage is the green skinned Hasin Clan and their descendants as they are the most numerous and most traveled of all goblin clans. The black and gray skinned Jag, Laverwulf and Fywal Clans are known to inhabit the hotter regions near the equator. The yellow skinned Plau Surku live at the south pole and were only recently discovered.

All goblins, like all elves, have a long prehensile tail. Their tails may or may not have fur-like hair depending on family genetics. Hairless tails or tails with only fur at the end are the most common. Goblins have notably longer tails in respect to body height than other elf,  many of them having tails as long or longer than they are tall.

Goblin Growth Rate & Stages

Goblins, like all elves, have a slower development cycle as compared to that of humans. They will lag behind humans in cognitive awareness for 10 years after birth. They do not reach puberty until they are between 32 to 35 years old. Their adolescence lasts until they are 50 to 55 at which time they are considered a young adult. Their physical development slows considerably at this point as their magic matrix (the elven equivalent of magical core) fully matures and maintains their youthfulness.

Goblin’s are considered fully physically and mentally mature at 152 years old. They will reach their prime of life at 360 years old. Female fertility decreases at 415 years old and will reach climacteric at 470 years old. They will reach senescence at 700 and end of life around 850 for males and 852 for females.

Social Structure

There are two trains of thought as to the goblin’s social structure; the first is based around meritocracy within the clans. The more a goblin does for the clan the higher on the social ladder they climb. Clan’s are very insular and will usually operate separately from other societies even when they live within the kingdom or territory of other species. They only see the laws of their clan as the only true governing force over them. This often causes friction between clans and other groups as they are known to break rules and laws.

The second are the “Rovers” who were originally a part of a clan but either left or their clan disbanded. For whatever reason they have adopted the social structure of the locations they find themselves in. They will often integrate into larger societies and live amongst the inhabitants. The clan that lived within Yuhia (the kingdom of the wendigo) disbanded and now live throughout the kingdom as citizens. They were accepted openly because of their magical aptitude.
