MCU/WORM OC Insert: Chapter 1

Disclaimer: My limited knowledge of worm extends to the likes of Shiro's fics. I know basically nothing about this world sooooo characters will be out of character. People who exist might not. Etcetera. I'm hoping to disguise that with my knowledge of Marvel, but even that's not perfect. If you see something off, please tell me. Or if you have a deeper understanding of the lore and thought something might be interesting.

This world... is a strange place. I've come to accept that. 

It all started about... ten years before I was born. 

No. Let's go back even further. 

Nazi Germany. A guy got his face melted off and gained superhuman strength. 

After that, one sole American became a Super soldier, fought the red-skulled man and saved the world from a rogue Nazi science division called Hydra. 

Cut to thirty years ago people randomly start developing super powers. 'parahumans' they call them. 

Then take a look at today? Commercialism got super heroes. Suddenly there's heroes and villains everywhere. 

Toys. Books. Movies. 

Suddenly everyone wants to be a superhero and join the Protectorate- the name for the organization that manages parahumans. 

It's a subdivision of the PRT. The parahuman response team. 

Anyways. This should probably sound familiar... or rather they should sound familiar... separately. 

Marvel... and the hellscape known as 'Worm'. 

Up until about ten minutes ago... I lived in bliss.  

I got punched in the face by a drugged up gangster and, well, bam. New memories. 

New powers. 

I think the old me... died? 

That punch hit me right in the temple... I still have like... figments of my last life... like I was living in autopilot. But now? I know this is a crossover between- probably- the MCU and a genuine HELLISH deconstruction of superheroes akin to 'The Boys'. 

Frankly? I'm a little surprised I didn't see a Homelander flying around. 

That'd definitely suck though because I know even less about 'The Boys' than I do 'Worm' and most of my knowledge there is from fanfic so... not very accurate. 

Hell, considering that this is a fusion world, there's even MORE inaccuracies. Genuinely WHO KNOWS what's wrong with this place. 

If I remember correctly... Tony Stark is presumed dead during Febuary or so? So... pre-Ironman one. 

I don't think he's parahuman. Just smart. 

Anyways... getting punched so hard that my soul replaced that of this alternate version of me. 

"Are you alright?" An absolutely dazzling beauty looms over me, as I lay on the ground. 

I rub the steadily forming knot on the side of my head with a wince. "Huh? Oh. Yeah. I'm fine." 

I look to a floating girl in white who has a little tiara on her head. 

Glory Girl. One of the local heroes. 

A long sigh leaves my lips. "Thanks..." 

"No problem!" The girl beams as I shakily get to my feet. "Stay safe now!" 

With that she floats up, grabbing the battered druggie under her arm, then flies off. 

Welp... gotta get home. 

[Split] 

I silently ponder; hands clasped together as I gaze into the mirror. 

Oh fuck... I'm a superhuman now... 

I appear to be... oh wow... a trump? 

YUGE power. They look at my power and say 'wow he has the best power'. 

Anyway, a trump effect is mainly a power that manipulates other powers. Be it stealing, copying, empowering... 

Or granting... much like my own. 

From my understanding I can grant ANYONE a single 'weak' power... of which I have a fairly large list. 

That 'anyone' includes myself and- 

I notice something else that I'm... not sure was there before... 

If I use the granted power enough or have it for long enough... I gain it permanently and the 'slot' is freed up... this extends to others as well though I can of course toggle it on and off. 

Powers last until I will them to disappear- unless they're permanent, in which case I don't really know what I could do then. Could I remove them anyways? 

I don't know. 

Regardless I kind of have to pick soon so I can begin 'mastering' the power. 

I'd like something for survivability so I was thinking 'Black Bones' so I'd be less likely to break a leg or arm. 

I nod once and lock in the power... but I don't really feel much of a change, really. 

My hand clenches and unclenches but... there's really no discernable change. 

Now. I need to get to school.

Well... Winslow High... what a shithole. 

If the Nazi's don't get you, it'd be the Asians... then the druggies will walk over after the dust has settled and jab a needle into your arm in order to get you addicted to whatever bullshit new drug they have. 

There's like a... tense-ness that just seems to permeate throughout these halls. Gang signs are carved into the brick walls every now and then from pocket knives. I'm sure at least fifty to eighty percent of the people here have on them at all times. 

Why this school can have pseudo gang wars in its halls... I'm unsure. But whatever. 

I've spent the past couple of days compiling my thoughts. Silently wondering 'what do I do with my life'. 

If this was strictly marvel, I'd be all 'fuck yeah, let's join the avengers and save the world!' 

Buuuut... everyone and their dog is a superhuman in this world. So Avengers? Not gonna fucking happen. 

I wonder if Hydra sponsors the E88. I mean, that German cape thing doesn't exist here. The Gelshaft or whatever it was called. 

Oh. I'm spiraling. I don't even think I've introduced myself. Must have been the head trauma. My name is Zachary Hansen. I'm just some orphan nobody! 

I work part-time at a place called 'fugly bobs'. Don't let the name fool you. It's a classy establishment somewhere north of Mcdonalds and south of Wendy's. 

Anyways, back to Winslow. The entire school has been pretty much made into one sole girl's fief. Everyone follows her orders otherwise god forbid she's got the entire football team in her pocket. 

Sophia Hess. 

Otherwise known as Shadowstalker. A superhuman who used to be a vigilante before she nearly murdered a guy and sort of got strongarmed into the Protectorate to be one of their 'wards' in Brockton Bay, their adolescent hero team. 

I know this bit from the worm fanfictions. 

The real question is 'how the fuck do I deal with this?' 

You see there's these pesky things called the 'unwritten rules'. Don't out a cape's secret identity or target their civilian family, try not to use lethal force, don't fucking genocide, and no rape or sexual assault. 

Now, I'm probably forgetting a few, but that's the gist of it. So. Me being all 'heyo this bitch is doing a crime in her civilian identity' would kind of put a target on my back. 

Unless I out her to one of the other wards... 

Huh. 

That's actually a pretty good idea, actually. 

But they could still probably track me down and- 

Huh... 

I... have more than one power? 

I'm a... tinker? 

A software tinker? 

Fuck it. Let's go make my home PC borderline impossible to break into. 

"Hey, Zach. Did you hear?" A voice calls out behind me. 

"Hm?" I hum as I turn, looking to one of the people I regularly speak with. "Hear what?" 

"That Hebert girl got sent to the hospital." He snickers. 

He's a Nazi and has probably been trying to recruit me for ages but whatever, when you skip as often as I do sometimes you need to make sacrifices to stay in 'the know'. 

"Huh? When?" I blink twice, straightening slightly. 

"Yesterday!"  

"Ah. Piss. Skipped yesterday. What the hell happened in one day?!" I question. 

"Apparently someone shoved her in her locker filled with used tampons and shit. She nearly fuckin died!" 

"Hess?" I ask. 

"Yeah, that stupid Ni-" 

"I'm going to stop you right there. Getting on her bad side is how you get put in a locker filled with garbage." 

"If it's full of tampons from Madison-" 

I turn and walk away. 

"H-HEY! Don't you walk away from me!" 

"If you don't want people to see you as human garbage. Maybe don't act like sentient toxic waste." I scoff. "I'm out."

Alright, so uh... turns out I had quite a few powers... it's been a while since I got anything so it's probably safe to go over it all now. 

First off. I don't need to sleep anymore. That's helpful. I've pretty much doubled my time in the day! 

As for my one slot trade-out power, I still haven't mastered 'black bones' yet. 

After that? Software tinker my most useful power. 

You see, 'Tinker's' are arguably the most valuable type of cape in the world only surpassed by certain 'Trump's. They have bullshit tech. 

They're quite rare, but the average tinker can build power armor like Ironman's if they have the right 'affinity' for it. Each and every tinker seems to have a certain 'gimmick'. One can have an affinity for ammunition and be able to make bullets that you could just flat out call 'magical'. From curving bullets to freezing ammunition. 

Or. They could have a more generalized effect like 'efficiency'. 

There's one key probably with Tinkers though... they require materials to build. 

That's how they get grabbed. Thinkers- that is people with powers that are related to information- notice a discrepancy here and there. A person buying dozens of used cars. A guy going across town stealing motherboards. A person buying rare chemicals.

That. Is what makes a tinker noticeable and a tinker is most vulnerable before they get set up.

A tinker is a power multiplier for whoever gets them because they alone don't necessarily need to be the ones to use their tech. They can give it away to others freely which is why they are so valuable.

BUT. Software tinkering is all online... it's coding. I might have a few 'Pc Improvement' ideas here and there but the core aspect of software tinkering requires no additional materials.

I mean, sure, if I wanted to make an AI I'd definitely want a super computer which I know how to make. But making it hard to track me? 

Easy. It's what I've spent the last couple of hours on!

After software tinker... I got 'Shield' Tinker which ranges from halo-esque force-field shields to real physical shielding like a buckler or tower shield.

Next I've got a 'Thinker' power! It's some sort of... psychic impression?

Like... I've been gleaning some of the experiences of Tony Stark and some random scientist woman?

It's... weird... it's almost like I can see through their eyes and access their memories.

The prior has really opened my repertoire while the latter is... kind of interesting. She seems to be working on some sort of serum or something? I keep seeing flashes of exploding plants.

Anyways, I can now more or less design all those missiles Tony Stark does! Plus, well... the Ironman armor...

With Tinkers around he quickly got the inspiration to build his 'Mark 1' which would be the 'Mark 2' from the movies. I don't think he ever actually built it, though, or at the very least he doesn't appear to have built it if this psychic impression is true.

So. Anyways, now that I'm in the MCU with literal Nazi's in my town... it's got me thinking.

What if I became Captain America two? Fucking hell, isn't there a 'Captain Germany' in Brockton Bay? I'm pretty sure I heard about an E88 cape with that name. Uses a shield and everything.

I plan on getting two more powers after my 'black bone' power is mastered which should in turn make me pretty much a super human.

Then I can pick up that rebound power and learn to ricochet a shield off things. The main issue with that is the fact that my shield won't be Vibranium... I might be able to do something similar though... some sort of impact absorbing shield that is coded to release the impacts whenever I want it.

In some ways, that'd make it better than Captain America's shield.

That sounds pretty kickass if I do say so myself.

Anyways. Now it's time to ruin some girl's life.

"Hey, Vista, I know this is kind of breaking a few of the unwritten rules, but I felt like what I've seen kind of warrants it. I saw Shadow Stalker use her powers in her civilian identity recently, but that's not what's important. What is important is how she is using said powers to bully a girl in my school. From what I heard last year she stole the girl's one of a kind flute (from her dead mother) from her locker. Hmmm I wonder how an immaterial cape managed to get around the locked door? It has gotten to the point where she sent this poor girl to the hospital after supposedly locking her in her own locker for over an hour with used feminine hygiene products that had been sitting there since the start of winter break. The girl nearly fucking died!  

THIS is who we have to protect us? I know you'll likely have to check things out first, but my god please don't let this bitch get away with this. She's turned Winslow into her little kingdom. Better do what she says or she'll get the entire football team to beat your fucking ass. If she doesn't do it by herself, that is. Anyways. Big fan. You're my favorite ward and probably the only person I trusted 100% to not wave this off as a joke." 

And now... 

The waiting game. 

I stand up and make my way to the kitchen, grabbing a mug and making some hot chocolate before sitting back down on the sofa. 

I should start programming something I'll call the 'Master Key'. Which is akin to a phone in that one 'Watchdogs' game. 

I'm unsure of what I want to be in this world. 

A small part wants to be a hero. 

A larger part doesn't want to live in squalor any more. But that means money. 

Independent heroes don't really make money aside from hideout busts and stuff. 

Need money for expensive shit as well. Such as a pocket arc reactor for that suit that I'm totally going to be making. 

I also sort of need to decide on my potential superhero outfit. 

Hm... 

Oh? What if I go full watchdogs? Wrench had something cool going for him with the LED mask. Plus I can install a screen on the other side to feed me information! 

I'll need it to be hyper-durable though... pretty much every person in this town has access to guns. The question is 'how' to make myself bullet proof? 

I cock my head to the side. 

'well... shield tinker's got me covered, I guess.'

I'd need materials, but that shouldn't be that big of an issue.

Alright, so I've got a general idea... the question now just is 'how long do I take in making my costume'? 

And how do I make money? 

Well... I could steal from the gangs, but then people would start to wonder where all this money I'm using is coming from. I doubt they'll count every single dollar so I could probably get away with buying groceries or something, but if I want to buy like... a home in the better parts of town or a car that'd raise a few eyebrows. 

Making a tech company is a dumb idea. That just screams 'tinker'.  

Hm... 

Hang on... idea! 

Youtube channel... youtube has really started to pop off around this time, right? So. I make a youtube channel... documenting me making a video game... 

There's a source of income! 

Then I post it to steam. Boom. Money laundering. 

Why did I go straight to money laundering? 

Well... 

I suppose there are criminal organizations in the city I wouldn't mind stealing money from... primarily Medhall. They're- from my fanfiction knowledge- behind the Empire Eighty Eight. 

Now. Should I pick a fight with a gang that has well over twenty superpowered members? 

Probably not. 

The Empire Eighty Eight kind of rules Brockton bay. They also like to portray themselves as the 'least destructive' gang. 

If they didn't randomly beat the snot out of Asians, African Americans, and the Spanish population of Brockton Bay, they might have a point. Now, I'm white, so reasonably I COULD live in their area quite easily. However. 

They're Nazis. 

I'm a proud AMERICAN. Nazis can fuck right off! 

So. 

Battle plan. 

Finish hackerman program, make some slight adjustments to my phone with that old desktop computer I have in the other room, get a mask, master trump given powers, go be a hero.

"What? Are you positive? I get that she's kind of cold but these are VERY serious accusations. You revealing the civilian identity of a ward is a great crime and you could face prison of up to ten years for revealing Shadow Stalker's Identity to any public source. But since I am already aware of it you will not be in trouble from this. However, if you were to release her name and face to the news the PRT will pursue this to the full extent of the law. You made the right choice informing the PRT of her actions, if she did in fact do such a thing of course, I hope you were smart enough to not release it anywhere else and I honestly hope that you're just some internet troll. If you aren't, however, I can confirm that actions will be taken to ensure such a thing doesn't happen again." 

Well... that was a very... PR response. 

I wonder if I was actually speaking to Vista or some PR manager that swooped in to take over her account? 

Meh, whatever. As long as that bitch has a bad day who really cares who is actually on the other side of this account.

Hello world! It's me! Wrench! Here to throw a wrench in the plans of those Nazi fucks in Brockton Bay. I've been doing my usual thing, lurking in the code of big business when I spotted something worrying. Primarily the sheer amount of money laundering Medhall is performing. And that's not even mentioning the 'equipment' they have shipped in and out of Brockton Bay. And yes, by equipment I mean guns, explosives, and even a disassembled artillery piece at one point. (That one was labeled under MRI Machine, which I suppose they may have had a point on, as it does technically give people an image of your internal structures) but I digress. Here's the files. "If you wanted to go public with these you should have honestly gone to the PRT. That would have allowed us to form a plan we could actually act on instead of giving the E88 or Medhall precious time to hide whatever they needed to. If you're in Brockton Bay we always encourage independent parahumans to come in for power testing. A certificate there would easily grant you the 'Verified Cape' tag, in addition you could join the Protectorate if you want."

"@Tin Mother. Meh. I'll do it later. And @Reave The PRT has more leaks than a fucking pasta strainer. Plus, the lack of any control over my appearance, brand, general anonymity and self-sufficient online presence without a PR manager holding a gun to your head REALLY harshes my vibe. I don't want the PRT to rush out a bunch of 'Wrench Approved Vibrators' or 'Wrench Approved Underwear' (Looking at you, Armsmaster) I believe that choice is the most valuable thing in this world and the Protectorate would take that from me. What would the PR team do? Take a look at my name and make me carry around a giant Styrofoam wrench or something? Force me to repeatedly say some sort of catchphrase like 'you've been HACKED' or something equally as asinine? Hero work has gotten too commercialized. Why can't we go back to the good ol days where being a hero was saving your country by punching Nazi's in the face?!"

Note: made some edits. People said there were too many powers, I found myself agreeing. Now he has a MUCH tamer power-set. Just the trump, the two tinkers, and the sole thinker. Now to make some edits to chapter 2.
