One thing I want to mention that seems to confuse reactors who I've seen watch Naruto. There's a difference between the CLONE jutsu and the Shadow Clone Jutsu. The Clone Jutsu is a basic technique where you create an image of yourself to distract or confuse your enemy but the image can't fight because it isn't solid. The Shadow Clone Jutsu is a much more advanced version of that where the clone you create is solid and can actually attack or defend. Thus the technique that Naruto learned from the scroll was super impressive because it's far more advanced that something he should be able to do at this point. This is why Iruka said "Those aren't just illusions, they're solid clones" when he saw what Naruto had done.
