I NEED MORE EPISODE REACTIONS MORE OFTEN PLSSS

This episode raises a very deep and spiritual question. Is Katherine really a survivor? Is it worth it to do absolutely any thing even betray every soul who has ever cared for you just because you want to escape death? Or is it better embracing death but at least stay true to yourself and never have to lose your self and let yourself care? Paranoia and fear of death destroyed Katherine to the point that nothing was left from her but an empty shell. Is this really surviving? At the same time we saw how Damon reacted in this episode. Damon saw the absolute terror in Rose’s eyes, he’s not stupid, he obviously was able to register the danger and seeing how much Rose was sacred of Klaus, that gave him enough ideas of what kind of vampire they’re dealing with but no matter how dangerous this man is, It will never stop Damon from protecting his loved ones. When Rose told him “I wish we could save Elena” with a very doubtful look on her face, Damon replied with a confident voice “and I will” that made Rose admire Damon for his bravery and loyalty. “Caring gets you dead, hun?” Damon is not afraid of death because he’s driven by love, he has already sacrificed himself for love when he went to rescue Katherine. That’s the internal difference between Damon and Katherine and the reason the relationship between them would’ve never ever worked out because at their core, they are very different people and they function on a completely different direction. Damon’s devotion to love is what helped him not to lose himself completely all those years and now it’s giving him the courage to face the strong and dangerous enemy like Klaus who got every body scared. This is Damon’s mentality,”caring gets you dead? so be it, as long as I make sure my loved ones are safe and happy” As we saw in the previous episode. Damon would put the happiness and wellbeing of his loved ones above his own, he just simply can’t be selfish with them. “BECAUSE I love you I can’t be selfish with you,…, I don’t deserve you but my brother does” putting the happiness of both Stefan and Elena above his own. Katherine: “don’t try to be a hero Damon, you’re gonna end up dead” Damon:”being there, done that, at least this time it would be worth it” Damon is driven by love but Katherine is driven by fear, she spend 500 years basically running away from her problems and essentially losing herself in the process.

Mnewmoon

A lot of earlier comments have already explained it to them and cleared things up.

zanni

"everything is because of me" and by her saying that ill forever hate elena haters til the day i die.

l4yahcore

you guys still confused? i don't think its that confusing !

l4yahcore

amazing explanation

farah

they're overstimulating me😭 you guys are not paying attention to the story

farah

delusional or aware? cause 1 more season and you know what happens.

farah

"shes with damon" stefan so delusional he cracks me up sometimes

l4yahcore

Really?!? I didn’t even recognize him! It’s been so long since I’ve watched an episode

Montae Williams

Katherine is a doppleganger from 1492. Elena is the most recent doppleganger. (Doppleganger is an exact lookalike not only bloodline)

Jay Gwaupo

Yesss this is getting good.

S

Nah Elijah a cool he could have been ruthless and just slaughtered the salvatores for staking him and took elena but he is a patient man🙏🏾 not everyone has this level of intelligence Elijah only does what he needs to do my goat 🐐

Funkystar

Elena is not Katherine’s daughter that’s impossible. The kid she had probably got send away to live somewhere else and that’s how the Petrova line survived after klaus slaughtered her family he didn’t know she had a kid two years prior. And 500 years later elena was born!!

Funkystar

In some shows warlock does mean evil but in this show just a male witch. Being evil just depends on you.

Kim Cottingham

Like she was born 500 years ago LOL

Yulian

The guy playing Luca is Richie from Family Matters

damein brown

Finally they know originals is the only vampires who can compel over vampires

foetweakinn

Right like I think klaus was going come for Elena either way. Without the salvator brothers Elena would have been dead. They saved her way more times than they put her in danger. Klaus would have killed Elena so fast and so easily without the salvator brothers protecting Elena, At least they tried to make it hard and a challenge for Klaus to get to Elena.

I love this episode, I love the soundtrack as well because what a gem for Katerina’s backstory. I was waiting for this ep because in S1 my girl Sophie was tryna throw blame all on Stefan. This ep is an example that it’s never truly anyone’s fault by their lonesome, even if Stefan didn’t come into her life she was doomed. If anything Stefan and Damon coming into her life helped in terms of Klaus cuz at least she has some backup.

Floridaboytonio

Mair & Sophie here’s a simple explanation about the doppleganger thing WITH NO SPOILERS…Katherine stated that the curse was created by using the Petrova Doppleganger blood which means that there was a version of Katherine before Katherine existed. The sacrifice of the doppelgänger can break the curse. Don’t be confuse with the whole Katherine and Elena thing, Katherine had a baby and the baby was given away which means that that child had a family and the bloodline continues through generations, then Elena would be born. The doppleganger would run in that same bloodline.

Judea Freeman

For the doppelganger thing they said in the episode the original curse was binded by a different doppelganger (not Katherine) and they cursed the Petrova bloodline so every hundred or however many years a doppelganger would be born

Sincere Robinson

no way I just plopped down with my dinner YES WINNER WINNER

wcked

30:16 That was funny asf lmao

zanni

Also, Katherine’s backstory explains why she is the way she is i.e looking out for herself first, it’s because no one ever looked out for her. Her family took her baby away and disowned her at 17, she moved to a foreign country and was immediately hunted by an ancient vampire and all the people around him. It’s a bit hard to trust people after that 💀

Halima

The term warlock doesn’t mean bad. It’s just the witch term for male witches. There are still witches but they just use the masculine term for it which is warlocks. Throughout the show you’ll see more male witches who use the term witches. And Sophie Ntm on Luka he’s one of my favorite underrated characters him and his dad. And then Elijah is my favorite character throughout this entire franchise, his character is so complex but writing did him dirty in the originals.

Weezy

One of my fave episodes. I understand Katherine and her selfishness more since this episode.

Dess Balmas

They are crackkkkk

Nana_44

The curse initially used the sacrifice of a petrova and the moonstone to bind it. “doppelgängers” appeared in the line family line to be able to break the curse (like Katherine in 1400’s) it was thought the line died bc Katherine became a vampire but bc she had that baby out of wedlock the line continues until Elena is born as another doppelgänger

Callysta Cobb

Elena isn’t Katherine daughter

That girl gabby

Guys pls forget about Katherine's daughter, it's not important right now

Lea

We already know Elena’s parent’s. Kathrine didn’t give birth to essentially a twin of herself. Kathrine is Elena’s ancestor. Kathrine is a doppelgänger. Then down the line in her family 500 years later another doppelgänger was born. Once again Elijah is op. Luca is annoying. Anyone else thinking c*ckblocker? 😂

endopoth7

I don't think I'm giving away any spoilers by explaining this: Katherine and Elena are both Petrova Doppelgängers. In order to break the curse, Klaus needs a HUMAN Petrova doppelgänger. By becoming a vampire, Katherine made it impossible to use her in the sacrifice, meaning Klaus had to wait another 500 or so years for another Petrova doppelgänger (Elena) to be born. But also remember that no one knew Katherine had a baby while she was human. They assumed the Petrova line ended with her- Elijah mentioned that when Rose first tried to bargain with him for her and Trevor's freedom. More will be revealed later in the season about the whole Petrova doppelgänger lineage.

Jenn

you dropped a spoiler in case you didn’t realise!

Halima

Omg, yes!!! I never blamed her for anything she did to escape Elijah and Klaus.

Cayden

This is one of my favorite episodes of this season. I honestly always believed that Damon and Rose are great together. Luka and his dad get on my nerves so much, they're so annoying to me. Luka especially because he's ruining my Bonnie and Jeremy moments, let them have their cute moments 😭 I love it that both of you felt the exact same way as me about Luka. I love Stefan and Caroline's friendship, it's so beautiful and Caroline definitely is like a Lexi 2.0. Katherine may be a "selfish bitch", but even on my first watch of this show I always believed everything she said. They always make her out to be a "liar", but everything she says always seems so genuine. It's not Elena's fault but at the same time it kind of is (sadly) because her just being born put all of her loved ones in danger too, just because they would want to protect her at all costs from Klaus. I freaking love Elijah so much!!

Cayden

they cooked so bad

Halima

Yesss the end of this season is my favorite!!

Laura❤️

Elijah being able to compel another vampire as an original, and yet being called "the easter bunny" compared to Klaus...like they really built up the hype so well

ashley kuate

He thought it was the ultimate fuck you that she starved to death with the thing she wanted so bad.

Athasin

Someone please ask Damon for me why the FAWK he put the moonstone in the tomb with Katherine 😭🤚🏾

Halima

saying he evil then ending it with “i love him so much” is soooo reall 😂😂😂

Tashaa

Breaking my silence: I don’t think what Katherine did to Rose and Trevor was bad. Rose was going to send her back to Klaus, it made no sense for Katherine to leave her fate in their fickle hands. Katherine did a lot of terrible things later on in her life, but everything she did in 1492 to escape Klaus was valid imo.

Halima

fuck it im spamming double drop!!!!!!

TJ

Let’s goooo

Devante Singleton

i always thought katherine’s story was SUPER fucked up. like girl was just on the run and klaus took advantage of a young girl with nobody to look out for her. like all she did was not want to die for some random crazy vampire and she was hunted for CENTURIES bc of that. klaus is so EVIL bro i love him so much

ultraviolet

LITERALLY !
