DAMON JUST CAN'T WIN!! | TVD "The Descent" REACTION!! | 2x12

What Damon did for Rose was one of the sweetest things, to give her a peaceful death. This episode really showcased Damon's vulnerability. And at the end, when Elena hugged him, that's what triggered him to go kill someone because he said to the girl "I can never be who she wants me to be." You'll notice that there's a lot of times that even though Damon projects this attitude of not caring, he really makes a lot of sacrifices, and many times he doesn't take credit for them. There's times that he's even willing to take the blame and look like "the bad guy" for the people that he cares about. Not in this episode specifically, but there are many times he does that in the show. That's what makes me like him so much, because he really is someone that loves deeply, and all he wants is to have that love returned. And the confession that he misses being human is huge considering the big talk he's had all series about the perks of being a vampire. It's just his way of coping with the existence that he's been dealt.

I felt so bad for Rose losing her life just as she gained her freedom ☹️ From a storytelling perspective I don’t know that I would’ve wanted her to last longer because she served her narrative purpose, but I like the actress and Rose was cool

This episode is so sad! Rose is such an underrated character who didn't deserve to go. I love the nuances and subtext between her and Damon, she believed he could be loved and treated him like a human long before he believed he deserved it. She was the first person to see past his shell without demanding anything from him. Rose didn't judge him, or push him to be something he wasn't. She gave him honesty, compassion and a genuine connection that wasn't tied to manipulation or a love triangle of sorts. She was the first person Damon let himself care about in a vulnerable way, the way he handled her dying showcases a growth nobody else had pulled out of him yet. She confided with Damon because she understood him emotionally and he understood her. She sat with him and his loneliness because she understood it. He gave her peace at the end because he couldn't give her a peaceful life, and that scene showed the most humanity in him than most characters got to witness. Love the complexities in the writing here.

I really don’t think she misinterpreted what the show literally told us. Just bc there’s layers to it doesn’t mean her interpretation was wrong.

Damn I didn’t expect Rose slander, I thought she was unanimously liked, I’m here for it tho. To this day I interpret Damon saying I miss it was not about being human but being authentically himself because he changed from S1 to S2 and lost what made him so feared in S1. In S1 his unpredictable behavior terrified us, but now we know he won’t harm the main cast because he loves Elena, the only anomaly was when he killed Jeremy out of spite. So I think that ending scene was him reveling in his true nature (a predator), can’t remember the last time Damon killed somebody by drinking their blood since S1.

Damon didn’t miss being human, Sophie misinterpreted what he meant. Damon missed being authentically himself which is someone who does whatever he wants whenever he wants and not caring about the consequences, like he was in S1. He knows that Elena wants him to be more like Stefan behavior wise and can’t conform to her expectations. He knows that if he does the Damon we know will cease to exist.

Damon: I miss it, and I’m not human Sophie: So he misses being human Me: Girl what? 😭😭😭

Weezy

I like her less & less every rewatch….atp I fucking hate her. Like ADIOS bitch!! ✌🏿😆

- Sheriff Forbes is still out of the loop on what the Mystic falls gang knows. So atp she thinks he’s missing. The MFG is; Bonnie, Elena, Stefan, Damon, Alaric & Caroline. - Also I think the past ep yall forgot that Mason himself was newly turned (set up by Katherine) maybe a year before his brother died. So he didn’t know anything about his werewolf heritage before then. And Jules said that “she’s been at this a long time” so she’s been turning WAY longer than Mason, hence why she turned later & quicker than Tyler. Mason also did mention friends in Florida. And werewolves don’t have control when they turn so humans & animals are their prey too but vampires are their preferred prey, so if one is near they’ll get sniffed out. And remember she “marked” Damon (like a damn dog LOL) so that’s how she was able to go after him when she turned. It’s a dog thing idk 🤷🏿‍♀️😂 - And idk it just irritates me that the writing has rose paint such a sad picture of being a vampire when that’s literally all her own doing. It’s really her own fault for not cozying up with a witch to help her with a daylight ring, it was her choice to have an unnatural allegiance to a loser, stay isolated & on the run. Like that was all her fault. And yeah you can’t have kids but I feel like they really don’t be trying all that hard to be fulfilled & balanced vampires. Like it’s always a damn extreme or some shit to complain about…constantly having existential crises….thats why I absolutely HATE the reveal at the end that Damon misses being human. Like UGH. He irked tf out of me w/ that. I’d prefer his dilemma be his guilt over how much he loves being a vampire.

I felt so bad for Rose's character, she was growing on me. I wish she would have lasted longer at least. The dream Damon gave her was beautiful, I cry every time I watch that part. I really enjoyed the scenes between Rose and Damon, they were so good together and had a lot of chemistry imo. They would have been a great couple if she was a regular in the show 😭 Jules is so annoying to me, I can't stand her.

Cayden

Damon is such a great character. If you want to speak in “student” terms, I think you could say he is the kid that has such a potential to be a good student (meaning not a killer) but he always walks that fine line of will he or won’t he snap. But at least to me, his evil bad boy side is appealing.

endopoth7

Appreciate the settle and slow episodes now cause towards the end of season 2 it gets crazy and chaotic 😭😩 lord so much stuff about to happen and all you guys questions and stuff about to be answered in the next few episodes.
