Say Hello To Your New Companion

Welcome to our first blog post in the new year! We have some very exciting news to share with you all.

We've been hard at work at putting the finishing touches on our newest project, the WeakAuras Companion. We're now finally ready to show it to the world.

The Companion is a cross-platform (Windows/macOS/Linux) application built to provide the missing link between Wago and the WeakAuras World of Warcraft addon.

It enables you to fetch updates to the auras you have installed  directly from Wago, without having to manually copy-paste import strings  all the time. It also makes sure you don't miss any updates, always  keeping you up to date with the latest versions.

So How Do I Use It?

1. Download and install the WeakAuras Companion from our website.
2. Start the Companion, it will ask you to give it at least your World of Warcraft folder and account name.
3. Click on 'Fetch Updates', this is also done automatically once every hour.
4. Restart World of Warcraft or reload your UI. The first time you  start WeakAuras Companion, you will have to restart the game for it to  be able to load the addon.
5. Now open the WeakAuras panel in-game and look for the new 'update-available' icon next to the names in the list.
   
6. After clicking on it, you get the usual choice of being able to upgrade or import as copy. That's it!

We also have a neat little diagram that illustrates the whole process:

At first, the Companion creates a list of your auras including a link  to Wago then it sends that list to the Wago API. Now Wago sends updated  import strings back to us and the app compares versions. After that, Companion creates a new "WeakAurasCompanion" addon in your  World of Warcraft folder. This is where new import strings are saved.  Now they accessible by the WeakAuras addon and can be picked up in-game.

Known Issues

• If you previously downloaded an aura from Wago that is not a whole  group and put it into one of your own custom groups, the Companion will  not show any updates for it.
